Assembly Instructions for the DDC light

Assembly Instructions for the DDC light.

Tools needed:

Phillips screwdriver

Drill bits (3/8, 1/4, 5/32)

Drill

Glue gun and glue

Parts (Inc):

(1) Wing Assembly

(1) Backing Assembly

(1) Loc Line end

(1) Loc Line washer

(1) 5’ Cord

(1) Electrical Assembly

(1) Light Bulb

(2) Wire Nuts

(7) 6-32x1/2 inch Bolts and Nuts

*Step 1 - Prepare the Backing Assembly:

*If the backing panel has been pre drilled, skip this section

1: Drill a 3/8” hole in the very middle of the back for the Loc Line end to attach.

2: Drill a 1/4” hole about 1” away from the center hole.

Note: If you want to use a longer cord, purchase an extension cord and cut the female end off of it and drill the appropriate size hole for it.

3: Drill a 5/32” hole on the flanges on the wings approximately 1/2” from the end of the flange and 1/4” in from the sides. Do this on all 4 corners.

4: Hold the lamp holders tight against the ends of the backing assemble and mark and drill a 5/32” hole in each end to mount them.

Step 2 – Assemble the Backing Assembly:

1: Attach the Loc Line to the 90 degree end (supplied)

2: Attach the 90 degree LocLine end to the center hole in the backing assembly by sandwiching the backing assembly in between the pieces of the Loc Line end.

3: Slide a 6-32 nut (supplied) into the slot of each lamp holder and mount to the inside of the backing assembly with 6-32 bolts (supplied) ran through from the back.

4: Slide the electrical cord through the cord hole and either tie a knot in it if it is a small cord or putting a zip tie on it to keep it from coming out of the backing assembly.

5: Connect the white and black wires to the appropriate wires from the electrical cord using the wire nuts that are supplied with the kit. If using the cord supplied with the kit, connect the black wire to the wire on the cord that has the black stripe on it.

6: Slide the circuit board down at an angle to where it sits against the lower corner of the backing assembly and hot glue the edge of the top of the circuit board to the opposite side of the backing assembly.

Install the Wing Assembly:

1: Position the backing assembly to where the opening is to the top. Make sure all wires, wire nuts, etc are shoved down and out of the way.

2: Lay the wing assembly on the top of the backing assembly with the top side up and position it close to center.

3: Insert the bulb to help center the wing assembly against. If the lamp holders are slightly off or leaning, gently push them as close as possible to center them up.

4: When the wing assembly is centered to the bulb, hold it in place and carefully drill through the flanged in the hole locations previously drilled in order to avoid hitting the bulb with the drill bit. Insert the remaining 6-32x1/2 bolts from the top. Attach and tighten nuts below the wings. Always drill one hole at a time and immediately install each of the bolts before moving on to the next hole.

5: Once everything is secure, run a bead of hot glue in the space behind the lamp holders and the backing assembly and put a drop on each of the wing bolts to keep everything in place.

6: Attach entire assembly to the suction cup and the unit is complete.

Special notes:

It is usual for the light assembly to get dirty during assembly. Simply clean it off when finished and sometimes it is necessary to finish sand some of the plastic edges to remove any burs caused from trimming. Also remember this unit is plastic. Please handle with care, especially when installing or changing the Loc Line.
