16. Abstract

A laboratory study on the effects of adding ethanol to motor fuel was performed. This technical note presents the results of Reid vapor pressure and vapor to liquid ratio tests performed on the blended fuels. Increased volatility problems with ethanol blends were uncovered, particularly at 10 to 15 percent ethanol. The investigation also showed how vapor to liquid ratio tests can be useful in areas where Reid vapor pressure data are inconclusive.
