CBSE CCE - Pattern

CCE at a glance –

1. CCE will cover the scholastic and co scholastic areas of school Education.

2. The two types of assessment referred to in the circular are formative and summative. The periodicity of the two types of assessment is four and twice a year respectively.

3. Formative Assessment totals to 40% weight age.

4. Summative Assessment totals to 60% weight age.

5. There are nine grades in Part A of Scholastic assessment and part B of the same assessment has five grades.

6. Summative assessment covers non academic areas like attitudes and Skills and there are three grades.

7. If a student secures Grade 6 in the academic areas his/her marks would range from 51% to 60%.

8. CCE advocates absolute grading. This means that Grade 9 would imply an A2 grade.

9. The academic term will be divided into two terms.

---------------------------------------------

1. CCE Syllabus for session 2011-2012 prescribed for First Term (April 2011 to September 2011) and Second Term (October 2011 to March 2012) issued by CBSE, New Delhi.

2. The formative assessment will comprise of Projects, assignments, activities and Class Tests/ periodic tests etc. for which Board has already issued guidelines to the schools. The Summative assessment will comprise of Theory paper as per the prescribed design of the Question Paper.

--------------------------------------------

1. First Term (April 2011 to September 2011) =>

There will be TWO FORMATIVE and ONE SUMMATIVE test in first term. Formative assessments (F1 and F2) will carry total 20% weightage (10 % each) and Summative assessment (S1) will carry 20% weightage for class X and 30% weightage for class VI to IX.

Thus CCE first term will carry overall 40/50% weightage (10+10+20=40) /(10+10+30)

2. Second Term (October 2011 to March 2012) =>

BENCHMARK FOR THE YEAR 2013

NVS has fixed the following benchmark for its JNVs:

CLASSES: VI to X: 100 % Pass

Average C.G.P.A.: 8.0

XI& XII: 100% Pass,

75% Distinctions

Subject Average: 75%

COVERAGE OF SYLLABUS AND CONDUCT OF VARIOUS EXAMINATION

1) The Split-up of syllabus has to be completed 100% for class XII by 30th Nov, 2012 and other classes by 15th February 2013.

2) Strategies are to be decided for systematic revision of syllabus. Sufficient time is to be provided to students for revising the

syllabus.

3) The practicals in physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer science & Science, for board classes should be completed by the end

of Nov, 2012 and record work should be completed by Dec.2012.

4) A complete record of various practicals conducted as per syllabus should be maintained at Vidyalaya level.

5) There should be a correlation between the marks allotted in internal examinations, practicals and marks obtained by the students in

external examinations. A large deviation in the board results reveals the poor quality of evaluation at the Vidyalaya level.
