Children who don’t read over the summer may experience summer learning loss. They don’t just feel like they’ve forgotten some of what they’ve learned, but they do forget it. Kids who lose reading skills over the summer will eventually be two years behind their classmates by the end of 6th grade. Here at Vineland we would like to prevent that from happening. We have compiled a summer reading list and assignments for our students to choose from. Students will pick one book and choose an activity that they would like to complete over the summer. They need to turn this assignment in to their 1st grade teacher next school year by the end of the first week of school. A grade will be given for the assignment. Work should be creative, neat and presentable.Reading List:Amelia Bedilia Goes CampingbyPeggy ParishBiscuit Finds a FriendAlyssa S. CapucilliCurious George Visits the ZooH. A. ReyFire! Fire!
