NDPMA 6TH GRADE SUMMER READING.docx

Welcome to NDPMA 6th grade,762001754853911500Over the summer, I would like you to read the following: a novel, a magazine, a non-fiction book, a newspaper (on-line or in print), and a menu. You will be going on a bit of a scavenger hunt while reading; you will have eight challenges to complete. If you follow directions carefully, all of your work can be done on this document; and I will be able to follow your journey as you read through the summer. I will be doing the same assignments so you will be able to check on my reading over the summer, also. All the work is due by August 22. I can’t wait to chat with all of you about what you have read. Enjoy reading!!Challenge # 1: Keep track of the time you spend reading this summer. I’m figuring that if we all read 10 minutes a day (Remember, you don’t have to have a book in your hands to be reading. Magazines, instruction manuals, menus, etc: all require reading.), each of us will read over 700 minutes and if there are 60 students in the class. . . . well, that is a problem for math class, but it is a lot of reading! Read whatever and whenever. Make a chart like the one below, or design your own chart, and keep track of your reading time.
