Of The Super Bowl

The super bowl is the biggest marketing day of the year. This activity will help you understand how the Super Bowl utilizes all seven functions of marketing. Use the internet to help you complete the activity. There are two primary sites that will assist you with this assignment. Use and superbowl/48.

Before you work on the functions of marketing as they apply to the Super Bowl, you need to learn some history behind the game. Visit nfl/superbowl/48 and go to the history tab.

1. Name the teams who played in the past three Super Bowls.

2. Name the teams in this year’s game.

3. Who have the entertainers been in the past three Super Bowl games.

Product:

1. Define 5 products offered by the Super Bowl XLVIII. Write a full description of at least five things offered to sports consumers who purchase a ticket to the attend game. Use both sites to help you with this. Besides watching the game, what do you get with your ticket!

2. How does that product change for sports fan who watches from home?

Distribution:

1. Where will the Super Bowl be held? What is the date and time?

2. What is the name of the stadium?

3. What is the seating capacity of the stadium?

4. What specific information do they give on getting to and from the game?

5. Besides going to the game, what are other ways that someone can watch the game?

Finance:

1. What is the projected economic impact to NJ/NY?

2. What types of businesses in the area stand to profit from this event? List at least 5 examples.

3. Sponsors play a huge role in financing events. Who are this year’s major sponsors (List 10)?

Promotion:

1. What will a 30 second commercial cost during the super bowl?

2. Who are some of this year’s major spenders for commercials?

3. How many radio stations are involved with coverage?

4. Of the sponsors listed above, identify what they are sponsoring for at least 5 identified above.

Marketing Information Management:

1. How is the playlist poll for entertainment a form of marketing information management?

2. What is the super poll?

Pricing:

1. What is the price of a ticket?

2. What is the lowest price ticket you found?

3. What is the highest price ticket you found?

4. What would be the revenue if sold out at the lowest ticket price?

Selling:

1. How are the tickets sold?
