MATH GRADE 7 - Weebly

MATH GRADE 7

Mrs. Jean Weissler

The seventh grade mathematics curriculum is a general math program with practice in the areas of computation, problem solving, mathematical reasoning, geometry and measurement, statistics and probability, and algebra. The text is Glencoe Math, Course 2, published by McGraw-Hill. Outside resources are utilized for clarification and/or enrichment.

The fifty-five minute class begins with the correction of homework from the previous lesson usually followed by a brief quiz over the material. Presentation of the current topic for the day is given with ample notes and example problems followed by exercises done together with whole class input. The remainder of the section, or an appropriate portion thereof, is assigned for independent work as homework. Students are allowed to work on the homework assignment in class as much as time permits. Extra help is available on a weekly basis (See G.O.A.L.S.).

Homework

Homework is assigned on a daily basis as math is a skill to be practiced. Homework is graded based upon number of problems completed not number of problems correct. A generous amount of time during class is given to the correction of homework assignments and it is expected that the student will accurately and thoroughly correct their own papers. A completed and corrected homework paper becomes the material from which to study for tests. Assignments will be posted on the IC school webpage.

Grading

Grades are based upon percentages from homework, mid-chapter tests, and chapter tests. Extra credit is given on a daily basis in the form of enrichment worksheets and “Problem of the Day”. Extra credit is also available in the BONUS section on every chapter test. No other types of extra credit will be accepted.
