Round Table Equations - The Algebra Toolbox

Pass the Problem

Use: To review process of solving multi-step equations

Warm Up, Closure, Formative Assessment

Teacher Preparation:

1. Put students in groups of 4

2. Give each group one of each of the pages of equations

Student Directions:

1. Within your group, each student takes one of the Round Table Equations pages

2. Perform only the FIRST STEP of the first equation on your paper.

3. Pass your paper to the left. Complete the NEXT STEP of the first problem on the page you were passed.

4. When a solution is given, the next person will substitute that value into the original equation to check it. If the solution is not correct, pass that problem around until the error is found.

5. Continue the process with the rest of the problems on the pages.

-For accommodations, provide hints for each step of all problems.
