The Difference between Low and Resolution Photoshop Images

DPI:

Dots per inch – the measurement used to judge the quality or resolution of an image.

Resolution:

Resolution can be defined as the quality, sharpness and clearness of an image. With regards to Photoshop, it is the term used to judge the dots per inch or quality of a raster image. The higher the DPI of an image or pixels per inch equals a higher quality photo or image. The higher the quality of a Photoshop image also means a larger the file size (MB).

Raster Image:

Is an image made up of pixels? Pixels are tiny bits of information. All Photoshop images are raster images. All artwork (type, shapes) created in Adobe InDesign are vector based images. Vector based images can be enlarged to any size but raster images lose quality when they are increased in size. Keep in mind you link Photoshop images into InDesign, they are still raster images even though they are imported images,

Low Resolution Images:

Low resolution images are images that can be used for screen display (PowerPoint) and web design. Low-Res or low resolution images are small in file size and are not high quality. These images are not to be used for professional print media designs. Low-Res images are used for screen display and web pages because of the small file size.
