We will investigate these regions ancient peoples and civilizations, and the effect they have had on our world today. Our exploration of the the Eastern Hemisphere will bring in other subjects including science, English, art, math, etc. Through our studies, we hope to help students develop a better understanding of the world we live in and our interdependence.MaterialsStudents will need the following materials each day in classAgenda BookWriting Materials (Paper, pencils, etc.)Geography 3 ring binderPaper/Pencils/Colored PencilsRequired MaterialsTo successfully complete this course, students will use a variety of resources including:Textbook “The Eastern World”Non-text resources (Handouts, Notes, Reading Packets, etc.)Multimedia InternetGradingThe Hastings Area Schools Social Studies Department has agreed to the following weighted scale grading policy. The scale for 7th grade is:Homework/Organization: 70%Assessments (Tests, Quizzes, Projects, Etc.): 30%Late WorkLate work will be accepted for no less than 50% credit for the assignment in the unit/chapter of study. Late work will not be accepted after the completion of a unit or chapter. It is the student’s responsibility to ask for and complete late work.CorrectionsAll students have the opportunity to improve upon most grades they are unsatisfied with. Work correction opportunities and procedures will be covered in class.DisciplineAll students are expected to treat each other as well as their teacher with respect, integrity and compassion.
