|Start the lesson: Monday/Wednesday/Friday (Activating Strategies): Today we will begin our day with 20min. S.S.R., review pronouns and preview |
|verbs, and review the 2 literary terms from last week. Then we will preview the 2 literary terns for this week, Today we will begin previewing |
|chapters 1 and 2 (1-16) of our grade level novels 7TH Grade The Pigman, 8th Grade Freak the Might chapters 1 and 2 (1-9). |

|Tuesday/Thursday (Activating Strategies) Today we will review author’s purpose and mood. Then we will preview Genre characteristics and plot. |
|Then I will give a definition for the reading skill and the literary term. Then I will preview the E.Q. for the week (What are the specific |
|elements that allow you to know the difference between fiction and nonfiction? Identify and give examples of each element of plot using the |
|selection.) |

|Presentation: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: I will preview and give examples of the grammar lesson on verbs 7th and 8th grade pages (13, 15, 17, 19,|
|21) . Then I will preview and give examples of the 2 literary terms and definitions for this week. : I will preview chapters 1-2 and give a |
|reminder of what the novel notebook/movie poster must consist of. Novel Notebook; literary analysis, a short summary for each chapter, |
|literature circle worksheets, and all quizzes and test. |

|Presentation: Tuesday/Thursday: I will go over the vocabulary for “The Retrieved Reformation”, located on page 26. I will preview the elements |
|of fiction/nonfiction and plot. |

|5. Guided practice: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: I will check their self-selected reading. I will give examples of at least 2 questions per page on|
|verbs. Then I will read the first couple of pages for chapters 1-2 and help get each group started on their literary analysis and summary for |

|6. Guided Practice: Tuesday/Thursday: I will read aloud The Baker Heater League with the students and discuss if the selections is fiction or |
|nonfiction and how do they know. Then I will read the first couple of pages of A Retrieved Reformation (28-35) and answer the questions on the |
|right side of each page dealing with predictions, plot, and vocabulary. |

|Independent Practice: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: The students will begin working on the Grammar pages (13,15,1719,21) and the students will get |
|with their group to read chapters 1-2 of their novel, and work on their novel notebook (Literary analysis and summary). |

|Independent Practice: Tuesday/Thursday: The students will get into groups and continue reading A Retrieved Reformation on pages 28-35. Answer |
|all questions on the right hand side of the page. The students will work in groups on page 36 questions 1-9 and work independently on |
|assignments sheets 23-25. What is not finished in class will be done for homework. |

|9. Evaluation: Monday/Wednesday/Friday: I will sign off on their self-selected reading sheet. I will circulate around the room to make sure |
|the students are working independently on their Grammar and novels. I will give each student a grade on class work and group work daily. |
|10. Evaluation: Tuesday/Thursday: I will monitor the students to make sure they are on task with their group and independent work with A |
|Retrieved Reformation. Each student will get a grade for their finished product. The students will take a test on A Retrieved Reformation. |

|11. Closure: Ticket-Out-the-Door/ The students will have to present something new that they have learned today or Give the answer to the EQ on |
|the board in order to line up to go to their next class. |
