7th Grade Math and Pre-Algebra Syllabus – Mrs. Poston

Textbook:

The school will provide each student with a textbook OR a link to the electronic textbook, as requested by the family. Any books issued to the student will be used primarily at home. A website and code will be available for access to the online electronic version of the textbook. There will be a class set of textbooks available in the classroom. Students must return their book at the end of the year. If the book is lost or damaged, students will be required to pay for it.

7th Math: Glencoe McGraw-Hill Oklahoma Math Connects Course 2 -- $64.98

Pre-Algebra: Glencoe McGraw-Hill Oklahoma Pre-Algebra -- $70.98

Assignments:

Assignments will be given daily, unless specifically noted by the teacher. All assignments are to be completed by the next school day, unless otherwise stated. Assignments will be graded and corrected daily by the student.

Homework Quiz:

A weekly homework quiz will occur on most Fridays. The material will be from the lessons that week. Preparation for this quiz comes from completing and correcting the daily assignments.

Grades:

Grades will be based on

➢ Tests – 50%

o Semester Exam – 10%

o All other chapter exams total 40%

➢ Assignments, Homework quizzes, Participation – 50%

o Includes participation points for “Bellringers” (5 minute warm-up problem sets given each day at first of class)

o Includes completion of class notebook. The notebook will be used to store daily notes, Bellringers, Assignments, and graded Homework quizzes. Students must bring this notebook to class every day, and be responsible for maintaining it.

Class Supplies:

(This list of materials was included within the Team Yale Supply List.)

➢ 1 inch 3-ring notebook

➢ Dividers (5 tabs are needed)

➢ Loose leaf paper (please no spiral paper)

➢ Pencils & erasers

➢ Red grading pens – NOT a Sharpie or permanent marker!

Pre-Requisite Skills for Advanced Classes ONLY:

Students should be comfortable performing all operations on whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and integers. This will be a very rigorous year since we will be condensing 2 years of math into 1 school year. All students must maintain a 75% to remain eligible for this course.
