EFFECTIVE STUDY HABITS

1. There are some very important skills to learn that will help you study. When you

2. learn and use them, studying will become easier.

3. Planning where you study- Choose a place to study that you find quiet and

pleasant.

4. Planning your time wisely- Planning your time gives you a way to schedule what

you need to do in a timely basis.

5. Taking notes- Purpose of taking notes is to outline the important points and give

you a clear idea of the subject matter.

6. Before lecture is given, skim through the chapter to get a general overview. During lecture, you should ask questions and listen for answers. After lecture, review your notes immediately, make sure you understand what you wrote, and get the

information that you might have missed.

7. Keep it simple and clear for yourself.

8. Preparing for tests and quizzes- Preparation is key. Review daily to help yourself

remember. Test your self and study with others.

9. Go to class with a clear mind.

10. Taking tests and quizzes- First skim through entire test to help you know what is

being asked. Read the directions carefully for each section of the test. If test

is timed, then budget your time. Answer the easier questions first. If you are

stuck on an answer, skip it for time being and then come back to it. Make any changes or additions to the test very clearly. If the answer is not clear, more than likely, it will be marked wrong.
