7th Grade Science46577250Life ScienceMrs. Frederickscfredericks@Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,My name is Mrs. Fredericks. I am honored and thrilled to be your new 7th-grade science teacher at Franklin Middle School. As we embark into the 2018-2019 school year, here are some things about myself. I graduated from Rutgers University, with a degree in Biochemistry. I have taught in private school for 15 years before coming to Franklin 11 years ago. My teaching experience started with Mathematics and Science and has now focused on Life Science. I am also active outdoors, in music, and life-long learner.Becoming a teacher to me is more than just a job. It is a privilege, a mission, and responsibility. I believe that every student has the potential to become unique individuals. Especially in a world that is continuously changing. It is my goal to have students grow in all aspects to become successful in their lives and the world. Students need to be able to explore, build their knowledge, and experience higher active learning roles. As we grow as a team, I am sure we will be able to reach this goal and more. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and look forward to working with you and your child(ren). Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I always have an open-door policy and believe that teamwork is the best approach for success. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and beginning our journey towards greatness.Thank you,Mrs. FredericksContact Info:cfredericks@7th Grade Science Curriculum 2017-2018Unit 1Characteristics of LifeUnit 2CellsUnit 3Muscle /Nervous systemsUnit 4EnergyUnit 5HeredityUnit 6Natural Selection/VariationUnit 7Ecology/Energy flow/Human ImpactGRADING POLICY FOR 7TH GRADE LIFE SCIENCE 2018-2019TASKS per marking periodEstimated Frequency for each Marking PeriodGrade Percentages for Tasks %MAJOR70%Project/Problem Based LearningTBD30Lab InvestigationsTBD20TESTS/CERTBD20MINOR30%Class AssignmentsTBD10Quizzes/NotebookTBD15HomeworkTBD5The students are expected to complete all assignments on time. ?If a student is ill, the parent must send the child to school with a written excuse from the parent or a physician. ?If the student fails to produce a note, he/she will not receive any points towards his/her final average.
