By studying Mesopotamia, Egypt, Ancient Hebrews, India, and China, students will discover the many roots of ideas that succeeding civilizations continued to use. Late work is highly discouraged. Students will receive an automatic -10% on late assignments. They will be given a ZAP form if they do not turn an assignment in on time. Students will have the opportunity to complete the missing assignment that evening. If it is not completed by the next day, students will be sent to the ZAP room during announcement time to complete their missing work. After the 2nd day, the completed late assignment may be turned in for partial credit. Deadline to turn in unit related assignments for partial credit are due before the unit assessment.Skill AssessmentsStudents will receive a Social Studies Skills Assessments bi-weekly (4 per quarter). The skill assessments will be focusing on reading comprehension strategies. All four Skills Assessments combined together is equal to a test grade. Cell Phones & Electronic DevicesSometimes, these can be very helpful in class when games and other interactive websites are used, however, they can also be a distraction and/or used inappropriately. Please be sure they are turned OFF and that I do not see them. Unless I specifically say take them out, the school policy will be strictly enforced and it will be taken to the office to be handled further. PowerSchoolPlease check your child’s progress and current grade using Power School. You should also review the weekly agenda on the class website. Absent WorkPlease make it your responsibility to find out what you have missed when you are absent. Check the weekly agenda on the board in the classroom or go to the class website. Also, go to the absent folders located in the classroom for any handouts that you missed. You will have one day for each day absent to make-up the work. Assignments that were due the day you were absent, will be due the day you return to class. Getting HelpIf you need support with directions, an assignment, or the subject matter please ask for help! We are here to help you, and are more than willing to make ourselves available for assistance. We are available before and after school or during lunchtime, just please make arrangements ahead of time.
