AAW and Convention planning and Preparation in Full Swing

Just catching up after my little sojourn in Hospital the last couple of weeks, and going back for another couple of weeks as of next week, This getting old is really not worth the wait

1) We have 501c19 approval, which simply means donations, mileage, etc etc for Association activities may now be tax deductible. We are just waiting for the IRS to post the proof documents then each chapter can get to work registering with companies and getting on next years donations list.....

2) We past the 170th registration for the convention (5 to go to win another coin 30 for coin and T shirt)) and approaching the 100 mark on the gun raffle, if you haven't bought a ticket please do so all the rules are on (the Orlando Chapters web page) it would be great to hit the target by AAW

3) Finally got the formal OK from Disney PR and Government relations to have the Div have parade (Band, Chorus, 50+ Troopers, Vets,etc.) Just waiting PAO and CG go ahead. You have to be registered to have a chance at any complimentary tickets we can get for this event on a first come first served basis (after the families of the Active Duty on parade).

4) Our wounded warrior program is one of amazonsmile approved charities go to smile. select "82Nd Airborne Division Association Wounded Warrior Fund Inc" as your charity then when buying through them (it costs you NOTHING) and a small donation is made to the fund.

Members and chapters get your registrations in for both AAW and the convention in Orlando, both are looking to be spectacular times (see above headline as a clue), the convention has added an extra day to cope (and no increase in price if booked early) $125 if late..

Registration for AAW and Conventions

Both AAW and Convention Dates are fixed, so get your delegate registrations in,. DELEGATES are your input to the Associations running, it's like voting, if you don't send a delegate then don't complain. AND now all these costs may be tax deductible!!!

If you have already decided to go, to one or both, check with your chapter to see if they have nominated Delegates, if not volunteer, they will pay your registration (up to 2 per chapter). If they haven't registered Delegates THEN WHY NOT. Register Direct through the web and put in comments Chapter Delegates, then you can leave it until the month before to name the delegates. Unused paid registrations will be used to register Active Duty Troops. So even if you can't make it you can still support the Association and our Troops.

As a reminder, each chapter SHOULD send the Chairman, and one other member, as delegates to both All American Week and the conventions. If the Chairman cannot be present, then the chapter can send another member (Delegate) in their place. In other words, 2 members of each chapter should be present at AAW and the convention. At both these events matters pertaining to the association and its running are discussed and voted upon, you have to have your representative there voting for what you want to happen, and taking notes to relay back to the chapter as to what the associations goals and targets are for the next year and future. Please, at your next chapter meeting, bring this up for discussion and appoint your delegates EARLY.

Planning is moving on with discussions and meetings as varied as a brewery wanting to make a celebration ale, to a parade at Disney's Magic Kingdom. We have had verbal confirmation from a VP at Disney that we will be doing something during that week. To get in the line for complimentary or heavily discounted tickets you need to be registered for the convention. Free or discounted tickets will be offered to the earliest registered first and strictly by the time recorded of registration. SO get your name on the list. Currently we have 170. I would have hoped ALL the directors would have by now!!!

2017 Grand Gun Giveaway

The spectacular Grand Gun Giveaway is launched. All Chapters have/will receive an email, (snail mail has already gone out) to announce this. Simply put as soon as we have 1000 "Donations" we will make a draw for an AR 15 Springfield Saint, all profits from this go to the joint Orlando and Dan Campbell VISIT fund. Then every 1000 Donations another weapon of similar or greater value will be raffled. All nonwinning numbers will be entered for all subsequent draws. Therefore, BUY EARLY BUY OFTEN to have a greater chance of success. Go to to donate and learn more.

100th Anniversary Challenge Coin Set

THESE ARE THE ONLY 100TH ANNIVERSARY COIN SETS APPROVED BY THE ASSOCIATION. Due to a holdback of sets "just in case" being released we now have another 20+ sets available to purchase. We have still a few complete sets to move and have a few single from previous months (non for September, the 1917 coin non from January Vietnam) Remember anyone (member or not) can order them and it's a great birthday, anniversary or gift for the active duty or veteran in your life, so copy and forward this news brief to all your contacts! ALL profits from this coin set go to the association.

A number have asked when specific coins will be produced. So far fixed the order is September 1917, October - WW2 formation, November - WW2 ops, December - Dominican Republic, January -Vietnam, February -Grenada, March - Panama, April ? Cold War, May ? Persian Gulf, War (desert Storm and Shield), June ? Afghanistan (2110 ? 2015) July ? Iraq 2, and July current ops.

We have commissioned a special display frame for the complete set, and will share more details with you as they become available. The artisan is a paratrooper and AA member of the Association, who also makes fantastic personalized military memento's.
