STUDENT

EXPECTATIONS: Always do your best…strive for excellence

Show respect and courtesy to all classmates and adults

Be on time and prepared for class

No food or drinks are permitted in the classroom

MATERIALS: Students are expected to bring a pen, pencils, and a notebook for English to class every day. When we are working on novels, students are expected to bring those as well.

GRADING: Grading is calculated on a total-points basis.

Class Work: This grade includes bellwork, classroom participation, notebook checks, and any work given and completed in the classroom.

Homework: Homework is to be placed in the homework bin at the side of the classroom. It is to be handed in at the beginning of the class period.

Quizzes: Quizzes are given nearly every other week and generally cover no more than two weeks of material.

Tests and Projects: Tests and projects will be assigned throughout the year.

LATE ASSIGNMENTS: It is the student’s responsibility to find out what assignments were missed and to make up late work in a timely fashion. The precise number of days allowed to make up assignments depends on the length of the absence (number of days absent, plus one). All handouts and information sheets needed for English are at the back of the classroom on the filing cabinet. Large assignments turned in late without an excused absence will be marked down a grade for each day late.

EXTRA HELP: Extra help is offered during activity period and after school on most days. Please see me to arrange times to come in early, or to stay late. I also have a website with class information that is accessible from the school website. Future homework on the website is subject to change.
