See school website to sign up for parent/student access.Homework:Homework may be assigned daily and is due at the beginning of each class period. Additionally, students may be quizzed at the onset of class if the homework assignment(s) involved reading or studying a specific course topic and/or practiced concepts. Parents can help monitor completion of homework by reviewing the student’s agenda each day. If a blackline has been marked on any given day, it is an indicator that the student did not complete the work assigned.Late/Missing Assignments:All work is due at the beginning of the period of the assigned day. If the student is not prepared at that time but finishes the assignment later in the period or that day, the assignment is considered late.Late work may be turned in within 24 hours of the due date; however, an assignment that is turned in late will receive an 80% of the earned grade. If assigned work is not turned in or turned in after the 24 hour grace period, the grade for the assignment will be recorded as a “zero.”Attendance Policy:Attendance is vital. Each day a student is absent, is a day when classroom learning is not occurring. This is important not only at any school site, but especially at a college preparatory academy which practices an accelerated curriculum. When absent, it is the student’s responsibility to find out what was missed (assignments, notes, etc). Make-up work is given one class period for each day a student is absent from class. If a test or quiz is missed, the student will need to make arrangements with the teacher- either before/after school or during Conference Period to make up the test or quiz. For more information, see the District attendance policy in the Student Handbook portion of the agenda. Finally, it is imperative to keep the line of communication open. We (the student, parent, and teacher) are teammates in this process of education and must work together. Please do not hesitate to contact me. You may contact me at 480-224-3941. However, the best way to contact me is through the district email: addair.annette@.Respectfully,Annette AddairSocial Studies-7thACP – Oakland ................
