Instructions for GLY 397 Oceanography Topic Presentations
1. All presentations must use PowerPoint and be projected using Room 339 Equipment
2. Presentation will be no more than 10 minutes long, no less than 5 minutes long.
3. Team must discuss with/display to instructor the presentation 24 hours prior to date.
4. Each presentation must include a one-page handout for the class with highlights.
5. Components of the presentation should include:
- title slide with title, student names, class and date - definition of the topic - why is the topic important? - details of phenomenon or problem - current research into the issue - most important unknowns or questions - key references and websites used (one slide and include on handout) - closing and request for questions (last slide) - presentation should take no more than 10-12 slides
6. Presentations will be graded on the following criteria:
- discussed with instructor and approved ? 1pt - clear and interesting handout ? 1pt - students share presentation ? 1pt - presentation contains components in #5 above ? 5pts - clarity of voice and preparation of presentation ? 1pt - stimulation of discussion and question for class ? 1pt - pictures and figures are much better than words on a screen! (discretionary)
7. All presentations will be held at the beginning of the class assigned.
