Course Description:

This course is a 4th year senior level math credit course designed for students who need to refresh core mathematics skills prior to further study.

• Essential Mathematics Skills

o Sets, subsets, unions, intersections

o Operations on numbers

o Properties of Numbers

o Exponents and Scientific Notation

• Essential Algebra Skills

o Patterns and Iterations

o Coordinate Planes, Relations, Functions

o Equations, Inequalities, Systems

o Quadratics and other Polynomials

o Exponential and Logarithmic Equations 

• Essential Statistics Skills

o Data displays

o Measures of Central Tendency

o Permutations, combinations, Normal Curves

• Essential Geometry & Reasoning Skills

o Geometric definitions

o Constructions

o Logic and Reasoning, 

o Triangles, Quadrilaterals, Polygons

o Measurement, area, volume, dilations

o Circles

• Trigonometry

o Ratios and right triangle work

o Basic function graphs

Materials Required:

(Calculator (TI-84 recommended; available in class)

Grades:

|A 93-100 |(75% of semester grade determined by classwork and chapter tests |

|B 85-92 |(25% of the overall semester grade is determined by the EOC (final exam) score |

|C 75-84 | |

|D 70-74 | |

|F Below 70 | |

Absences and Tardies:

(Tardies and absences will be counted and dealt with according to CHS policy.

Make-up Assignments/Quizzes/Tests:

(When absent, each student is responsible getting the assignment and notes from a friend or from me before or after class.

(If a student misses a unit test, he/she should make arrangements with me for a makeup within 3 days.

Notes/Daily Assignments:

(Each student must have a notebook that is to be used for taking daily notes.

Expectations: Students are expected to…
