ROYAL LEAMINGTON SPA CANOE CLUB MARATHON
SUNDAY 19TH MARCH 2016
This is a Hasler qualifying event for divisional paddlers in the Midlands region. The race will be held in accordance with B.C.U. Marathon racing rules. All paddlers must declare their singles division ranking when paddling doubles.
Lightning and Mini K2 races will qualify for Geoff Sanders Memorial Trophy points not Hasler points. For Lightning K1 entries there is no additional entry fee charged to enter Mini K2 races.
VENUE: Royal Leamington Spa Canoe Club, Riverside, (off Adelaide Road A452), Leamington Spa, Warwickshire CV32 5AH. Check in, refreshments, results and prize giving at canoe club.
PARKING: Parking at canoe club, carry boats to other side of river for entry and exit. No boats allowed through clubhouse. All paddlers will enter water opposite RLSCC club house.

Div 7 – 9 form start lines opp. the club, starts at 30 sec intervals.
Div 1 – 6 paddle downstream, portage weir, paddle to Leam / Avon junction start line. This will take approx 20 mins to paddle.

The Lightning race is for U10 & U12 years (age as on 01/01/16) paddling Lightning K1s only.
HAZARDS: For Div 1 – 6 care needs to be taken when portaging the weir as it may be slippery. Care should be taken around rowers and other river users. Divs 7 – 9 should beware of oncoming paddlers and keep to the right of the river, as the Leam is relatively narrow.
SAFETY: All paddlers in Divisions 7 to 9 and Lightnings must wear approved life jackets or buoyancy aids. Team leaders to decide if paddlers in higher divisions should wear them.
RULES: The race will be run in accordance with the current BCU Marathon Rules. Division 1 - 9 competitors must be Comprehensive BCU/Canoe England/WCA/SCA/CANI members, or members of the Junior Section of a BCU Affiliated Club. A current BCU or Junior Section Card must be shown at check-in. Paddlers ranked in Divs 1 - 6 without proof of membership will not be permitted to race. Paddlers ranked in Divs 7 - 9 without proof of membership may purchase an event ticket, for insurance purposes.
PRIZES: For all races depending on entry.
NOTE: RLS Canoe Club reserves the right, without prior notice, to alter any of these arrangements should the weather or other circumstances warrant it.
