Virtual Tiger Times Volume 2Good Afternoon Tigerific Families, You are receiving this email because you have a child that attends Tracey’s Elementary, works at Tracey’s Elementary, or has expressed interest in receiving the information in this email. TRACEY’S is off to a GREAT start:This week we welcomed 410 students in grades Kindergarten to Fifth Grade. Teachers at each grade level met our students in there google classrooms and greeted them with virtual open arms. The families of our Kindergarten students had a chance to meet with their child’s new teacher and they are starting their academic career with a staggered entrance. This year our teachers will continue to challenge and engage all students in reading, math, science, social studies, art, music, physical education, and Spanish. What makes Tracey’s even more AWESOME is we are also a PYP School. The IB Primary Years Program (PYP) provides the knowledge, concepts, skills personal attributes and the capacity to take action, all of which younger students need to equip them for successful lives. Learning through inquiry, a child’s investigations across and beyond subject areas will strengthen knowledge and understanding as they explore global, topical and relevant “big picture” questions, or transdisciplinary themes. The PYP provides an ideal foundation for children to become successful, lifelong learners by developing their:social and emotional well-beingindependence, as they take responsibility for their own learninginternational mindednessunderstanding of the world and their ability to function effectively within itattitudes and dispositions for learningability to take mindful, appropriate and sustainable student-initiated actionlanguage skills: all students study an additional language from at least 7 years of age.Learning in the PYP is underpinned by?six transdisciplinary themes, each selected for their relevance to the real world. Young learners explore the commonalities of human experience by investigating these themes through a program of inquiry.Back to School Night:This year back to school night is being held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 6 PM.
