These training can be used to help strengthen and enhance the knowledge and skills of local agency staff. NOTE: The trainings shared are a resource for staff development; many will not include continuing education credits. Viewing Online TrainingsOnline trainings are very convenient and accessible to all. Below are some ideas to enhance the training experience and its effectiveness:View and discuss the training with others. This might involve viewing and discussing at a staff meeting or viewing with another person who is interested in the subject. No one in your office? Consider watching the training and then set up a time to discuss it with another person over Teams, Zoom, Skype, or FaceTime!Watch the Training in Small Segments. Many of the trainings listed are an hour in length. It’s easy to get distracted or interrupted when viewing an online training. Consider watching the training in short, planned out segments, rather than all at once.Practice WIC Application. Many of these trainings are focused on nutrition and health knowledge. Reflect on how you could use this knowledge in the WIC clinic setting. How might a conversation about this subject sound with a participant? Practice a conversation with a coworker. Training Level DescriptionsGeneral training levels have been provided as a guide to the complexity of the training information. It is up to each individual to determine if a specific training meets their needs. Basic: Appropriate for new WIC CPA staff, or as a review for any WIC CPA staff. Some trainings are also applicable for support staff. Trainings marked with **are included in New Staff Training. Intermediate: Ongoing knowledge and skill development. Appropriate for WIC CPA staff who want to enhance their basic skills and expand their knowledge in a specific area.Advanced: These trainings are for those who want a more in-depth knowledge on a nutrition or WIC related topic. These trainings are usually more scientific, research or policy based. High risk nutrition and breastfeeding topics are included in the advanced trainings. Included are exercises for correctly reading various scales, how to properly calibrate scales, and exercises for interpreting growth charts for all categories of WIC participants. Training Level: BasicWHO Growth Grids and Risk Factors (MN WIC, 2012)Format: PowerPoint onlyDescription: This PowerPoint was used to train WIC staff on the new WHO growth charts in 2012.
