How to Cancel an Auto Policy in the PL Policy Change Center
Follow these steps to search for an auto policy and begin cancellation of a policy.
From the PL Policy Change Center Search screen you can search by:
Entering a policy number
Or The named insured.
1. To search by:
Policy number, enter the Policy Number (no spaces or dashes).
Or Named insured, enter at least Last
Name of insured and middle initial of First Name, City, State, Zip Code (optional).
2. Click Search. The Search Results screen will display.
On the Search Results screen, in the Current Policy section: 3. Enter the effective date
(mm/dd/yyyy) for the cancellation in the Enter Effective Date field. 4. Click Cancel Policy. 5. A pop-up message displays: Click OK to proceed to the
Cancellation screen. OR Click Cancel to return to the Search
Results screen.

Issues finding the policy:
If a policy cannot be found, an alert displays. You must provide a valid policy number in order to continue.
If a policy has already been cancelled, one of two messages displays:
1. "You are being redirected to collect the information necessary." (Accessible Inactive); You can still make some changes to this policy by clicking:
a. Continue with Policy Change
OR
b. Continue to Cancellation, and continue onto Policy Cancellations page.
OR c. Terminate and return back to the
Search screen.
2. "This policy is in cancelled status." (Inaccessible Inactive); This policy is no longer accessible or active.

Policy Cancellations Page:
Fill out the following fields on the Policy Cancellations page:
Cancellation Effective Date
Cancellation Reason (select from a drop-down)
Please indicate Yes to confirm that the insured has signed a cancellation request form (ACORD or state specific form) and that the signed form will be retained by the agency? (Select Yes or No)
Is this a 5+ vehicle split policy?
NOTICE: Wording on the Policy Cancellations page may vary depending on the state in which the policy is located.
At the bottom of the Policy Cancellations page, you can:
Cancel this request (to stop the cancellation process completely).
At this point an Alert Message pops up "All your changes will be lost. Are you sure you want to cancel this change?" (Select YES or NO)
OR
Continue on with the cancellation and click Review Changes

Next you can review changes and verify information prior to proceeding with the cancellation.
If you find incorrect information on the Review Changes page, you can still make edits by clicking Edit Policy Cancellations Details.
Once you have reviewed the page, click Proceed with Cancellation.

Next, one of two screens will display:
1. Policy Cancellation Summary with a submission confirmation message "Your submission was successful."
OR
2. Policy Cancellation prompt informing the policy cancellation was not successful and that the Policy Cancellation was submitted to appropriate department.
