Family Literacy Day, held annually on January 27th, was developed by ABC Life Literacy Canada in 1999 to celebrate adults and children reading and learning together, and to encourage Canadian families to spend at least 20 minutes a day enjoying a learning activity together.

We welcome Christina Scott to Cinnabar! Christina is in the position of Prep Teacher. She will be working with all grades and will be teaching Science, Physical Education, French as well as Fine Arts. We are delighted that she has joined our teaching team.
Criminal Record Checks
We have some parents with EXPIRED criminal record checks that need updating. Please contact school secretary to enquire if yours is expired.
All volunteers, of any type must complete a criminal record check
Support Volunteers: persons, typically parents or guardians, who directly or indirectly assist teachers in achieving educational objectives by providing non-educational services such as the supervision of field trips, supporting class projects or activities, chaperones, etc.
UNSUPERVISED Volunteers: volunteers not under the direct supervision of a teacher or administrator must complete the School Volunteer Registration Form and must complete a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search (available at your local RCMP detachment) before being placed in a school.
ONLINE SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR COMING TO CINNABAR VALLEY
FAIR START DATE: March 1st, 2021
FAIR END DATE: March 12th, 2021
There will be a 14-day period for our Virtual Fair, the site will open and close at midnight Eastern Standard Time. In mid-February we will share out the Virtual Book Fair Shopify link with the school community and families can shop the Fair as they would any other e-commerce site. Shipping will be free for orders over $35 before taxes, and items will be shipped directly to your home.
