Bigfoot facts (taken from )

General Description

A Sasquatch is an ape like creature that thrives in North America. Sightings of this creature have dated back hundreds of years, and…[every] description…[is somewhat different.] The general description of a North American Sasquatch is as follows: A tall ape like creature that in many ways looks like a gorilla in the face. The creature walks upright, and have very large feet (hence the name Bigfoot). It also emanates a foul odor, which is usually described as smelling like a mixture of a dead animal, creek mud, and wet hair. In most sighting reports the creature is very elusive, this makes the sighting never last more than a short period of time.

Origins of Sasquatch

…[There] are several theories about the origin of Bigfoot, unfortunately there is not

enough physical evidence to prove where these creature actually originated from,

however science is getting closer. Some believe that Bigfoot is the last remnants of

the “Gigantopithecus” whose fossils were found in Asia some time ago. Some also

believe that the creatures are of relation to the “Abominable Snowman” better

known as the “Yeti” and could have traveled to North America when the Bering

Straight was still connecting present day North America with Russia. Some

individuals believe that the creature is the “Missing Link” between Humans and

apes. … With any religious belief aside, there are striking similarities between the

looks, and intelligence between the Sasquatch and other known ape species.

[Other Names Around the World]

While Bigfoot and Sasquatch are the two most commonly used names in North America,… [many] of …[the following names are used … all around the continent: Skunk Ape, Swamp Monkey (Southern United States), Forest People, Man of the Woods, Wild Man, Wild Woman, Stick Indians, Night People, Wood Man, Bush Man.

Sasquatch has been called many [other] names, most of which are not mentioned above. …[Different] areas… of …[North America] tend to call the creatures different names. The Eastern portions of the United States usually call these creatures “Bigfoot”. While in the Pacific Northwest they are usually known as Sasquatch. For hundreds of years, Sasquatch like creatures have been sighted all over Europe, the names given to this creature greatly differ from that of the names in the United States. The names are as follows:  Kaptar, Biabin-guli, Grendel, Ferla Mohir, Brenin Ilwyd

One of the oldest reports in human history that involves a Sasquatch like creature comes from Asia. The most famous name for these creatures in Asia seems to be “Yeti”. They are also known as the Abominable Snowman. Other names for the creature include: Gin-sung, Yeti, Mirygdy ,Mecheny, Chinese Wildman, Nguoi Run. In Australia the creature is known as the “Yowie” and hundreds of sightings of the creature have been reported from the country. The “Yowie” has been reported to be anywhere from 5 – 7 ft tall, and have a smaller build than that of the North American Sasquatch.

In Nepal, a creature much like a Sasquatch has been reported hundreds of times, although smaller than the Sasquatch it is still known as an “Unknown species of Ape” It is called the Orang Pendek.  The Orang Pendek has been reported upon several occasions as being a Small ape like creature, that walks upright. It is usually a reddish/brown color. Researchers in the area have reported that the large toe on the foot of the Orang pendek is almost like an opposable thumb like seen in Orangutans. However many locals, and scientists alike are positive that the creature in question is not an Orangutan but possibly a link between Sasquatch and Orangutans’.
