Transport Temperature: Ambient (room) Temperature.

SPECIMEN TYPE:

Specimen Required: EDTA whole blood, all instructions (located on the back of form DCH-0562) MUST be followed for the collection and submission of specimen.

Minimum Acceptable Volume: Fill the EDTA specimen tube to the intended fill volume, as partially filled collection tubes will result in erroneous results due to excessive dilution.

Container: Use mailing Unit as supplied.

Shipping Unit: Unit 13.

SPECIMEN REJECTION CRITERIA:

Critical Data Needed For Testing: Specimens lacking two unique patient identifiers (i.e, full name and date of birth, patient number or specimen number) will not be tested.

ADAP # must be provided.

TEST PERFORMED:

Methodology: Flow cytometry system (Beckman Coulter Navios EX)

Turn Around Time: 7 days. Typically one day.

Where/When Performed: Lansing/Monday through Friday

Reference Range:CD4 335-1389 cu mm

CD8 214-714 cu mm

NOTES:

1. CD4/CD8 T-lymphocyte testing is available to "Approved Programs Only."

2. Specimens must be collected and submitted according to instructions. Include the date and time of specimen collection on the requisition form.

3. Whole blood must be maintained at room temperature during storage and transportation. DO NOT centrifuge tube.

4. Specimen MUST be shipped for "next day" delivery. Specimens must be shipped to arrive during normal operating hours of 7:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M.

5. Reliable results are dependent on adequate specimen collection, transport, and storage of specimen.

6. Patient must be six years of age or older to be tested.

7. Test to be performed within 48 hours.

8. Flow cytometry system utilizes four fluorescent colors with an argon laser. Instrument has an absolute CD4 and CD8 analytical range of 35-2000 cells/cu. mm.
