Lab reports must be typed in Times New Roman font, size 12, in the following format, unless otherwise instructed by the teacher.

Title Page (Includes Title of Lab Activity, Unit/Topic, Name, Date, and Class Period; include creative graphics and pictures that relate to the topic of the activity)

Abstract (1 paragraph summary of your experiment and results)

Purpose (What are you trying to find out? What question are you trying to answer by completing the activity?)

Hypothesis (A testable statement about what you think will happen. Should answer the problem question?)

Review of Literature (Background information that is available on topic)

Methods

Materials (A detailed list of all items, including quantities, used in the activity.)

Safety Precautions (What safety equipment will you need? Are there any dangerous chemicals or equipment being used? What are possible consequences of mishandling materials or tools?)

Procedures (A numbered step-by-step list of instructions for how to do the activity.)

Results (Data / Observations - Part I: Graphs, charts, and/or tables of observations or data recorded during activity. All graphics should be fully labeled and include units. Part II: Diagrams /sketches of observations; can include photos of work during investigation.)

Conclusions

Summary (Describe your results. Identify the independent variable, the dependent variable and the control. What trends or patterns were you able to observe? Was your hypothesis correct? What were possible errors that could have affected your data? What might happen if part of the lab were changed or how could the experimental design change? What are some skills and information learned by completing this activity? How might this be applied to future situations?)

Analysis (Questions and discussions that assess your understanding of the scientific concepts underlying the lab activity.)
