Here are some tips to help you along. Getting Started:Locate all course outlines. You may want to print out a hard copy or use the electronic copy from Blackboard. In the notes section below, create a color code or abbreviation system for classes, assignments, etc. You can fill it out on your computer or print and use a highlighter or colored pens/pencils to identify and coordinate your calendar. For example ECO (economics), SOC (sociology), LAX (lacrosse game), Work.Record due dates and other important activities. Include exams, tests, quizzes, projects, presentations, labs, essays, and research papers.Record the extras: academic advisement meetings, group and club activities, campus events, athletics, Work, etc. - Use the shaded area for personal stuff and the white space for academic. Things to Consider:First, check for patterns, sequences and weeks with many deadlines, etc. For example, multiple tests or projects due. You will want to get ahead on the work due during busy weeks so that you don’t get overloaded. Then use your semester calendar to identify challenges well in advance and revise your weekly calendar by adjusting your scheduled study blocks and work time to avoid last minute cramming. Next Steps:To print the calendar: save as a PDF to the cloud, u drive or flash drive, print – print one-sided so that you can tape the sheets together to create one poster-sized calendar. Now that you have your semester calendar organized, you are ready to plan your weekly calendar.
