Knowledge Center

The Academy’s Knowledge Center offers specialized information services and resources to keep members informed about food, nutrition and dietetics practice issues and provides consumer nutrition education tools to meet the needs of registered dietitian nutritionists.

The Knowledge Center staff also support the work of Academy programs and projects by providing services such as technical reviews, writing articles for Academy publications, serving as dietetics editors for Food and Nutrition Magazine and conducting literature searches and other library services.

In addition, the Knowledge Center manages the annual National Nutrition Month® campaign, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day promotion and Eat Right Nutrition Tips program.

Member Services

Daily News: The Knowledge Center’s Daily News delivers the top food and nutrition stories from leading media outlets directly to members via e-mail. Each Wednesday and Friday the Daily News also includes a special Journal Review section with selected journal articles of interest to members covering all areas of dietetics practice. Currently, more than 55,000 members receive the Daily News each business day.

Ask the Knowledge Center: This member benefit provides information and quick reference services for Academy members. Knowledge Center RDNs respond to member questions and information requests received by e-mail (knowledge@) or by phone (800/877-1600, ext. 4853 or 4784).

Nutrition Trends: Find answers to dozens of common nutrition and dietetics practice questions provided by the Knowledge Center RDNs online at resources/membership/member-benefits/knowledge-center .

Consumer Education Resources: Eat Right nutrition handouts (free to download or print), Good Nutrition Reading List, and MyPlate promotional products can be accessed at NNM.

National Nutrition Month® and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day: Each year during March, National Nutrition Month® continues to expand its reach as an annual public awareness campaign promoting the importance of making informed food choices and developing sound eating habits, as well as promoting the expertise of registered dietitian nutritionists. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day is celebrated on the second Wednesday in March to commemorate the dedication of RDNs as advocates for advancing the nutritional status of Americans and people around the world.

The Knowledge Center manages NNM and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day programs working with Marketing, Strategic Communications and Web Strategy to coordinate the various campaign components. Sales of promotional items and educational materials provide non-dues revenue to support the Knowledge Center. Additional information is online at nnm.
