• This is a student-run free clinic led by the students of the health science campus at Columbia University. I served as Student Chair in 2011 and volunteered as a Junior and Senior Clinician, Attending Human Resources Chair, and Clinic Coordinator throughout medical school.

2008- 2010 Lang Youth Program – New York, NY

• The Lang Youth Program is a six-year enrichment program for ethnic minority youth. I served as co-chair of the club, coordinating student volunteers, and also volunteered as a math tutor and leader of the Girl's club, offering female students a venue to discuss social issues relevant to their age group.

• Participated in a two-month research fellowship working in the preparatory phase of an NIH-funded clinical trial investigating linkage to and retention in HIV care.

2011-2012 Doris Duke Clinical Research Fellowship – New York, NY

• One-year research fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. I worked with Dr. Joseph Haddad in the Department of Otolaryngology investigating the genetics of cleft lip/palate in Honduran and Colombian populations.

2012-2013 Carolyn L. Kuckein AOA Student Research Fellowship– New York, NY

• Research fellowship funded by Alpha Omega Alpha supporting investigation during my fourth year of medical school. I investigated disruption of the PI3K/AKT pathway in patients with ileal carcinoids using mutant-enriched sequencing and quantitative PCR.

• Independent study at Dr. Brian Dynlacht’s laboratory at New York University investigating transcriptional regulation of the mammalian cell cycle. This fellowship supported the completion of an Honors Thesis in Biochemistry entitled Uncovering the Roles of XBP-1 in DNA Replication and Repair and Links to Cell Survival
