COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course provides the student with in-depth knowledge of health care systems and organizational structure. Emphasis is on resource management and healthcare

financing principles. The focus is on complex health care issues that impact the integration

of health care services. .

COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Relate systems and organizational theory to the design, delivery, and evaluation of health care delivery and outcomes.

2. Utilize business and economic principles to determine the impact of health care financial policies on the delivery of health care.

3. Analyze the utilization of human, environmental, and material resources necessary for quality client care.

4. Describe support structures, processes and methods used in the management of the

care environment.

5. Evaluate regulatory and legislative processes and outcomes as they affect health

care, and make recommendations for change.

Course websites are generally made available on the Friday before the first day of classes.

ATTENDANCE

Students may be expected to attend on-campus or synchronous classes periodically. Students are expected to participate in the activities and discussions as listed in the course syllabus and on the course web-site. Timeframes for the posting and receiving of materials are listed in the course materials on the course web-site. Make-up exams may not be available in all courses.

ACCOMMODATIONS DUE TO DISABILITY
