Elgin Veterinary Hospital Boarding PoliciesAll Boarders must have had an exam by a Veterinarian in the last year and be up to date on all vaccines ( dogs: Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella for cats: Rabies,, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia) and show proof that pet is current on Heartworm prevention to help keep our hospital disease-free.All pets will be given a Capstar upon arrival for $9.50 to keep our hospital flea-free; if any other parasites are noted (ear mites, Intestinal parasites, etc.), your pet will be treated accordingly and you will be responsible for any expenses incurred.We feed Science Diet Sensitive Stomach Dry Food. If the food switch causes GI upset it will be treated for the safety of your pet. You will be responsible for the cost of treatment, but we will try to contact you first.If you would like to provide your own food, please have it pre-measured in Ziploc bags for each meal. This allows us to provide your pet exactly what he/she is used to.Puppies or kittens will be kept in isolation since he/she is not fully vaccinated and should not be exposed to other animals.Exotic pets will be boarded in the exotics ward, away from the other animals. Please provide food, water bottle, and his normal cage (if you have a mobile cage) to decrease the level of stress on the animal. We do daily exams on exotics to ensure that boarding has not caused them to become ill.If medications are to be given during your pet’s stay there will be a fee each time the medication is administered.Please do not bring toys, towels or blankets. We will provide everything they need and it is helpful to decrease disease. If you bring items, we are not responsible if lost. We wash everything (blankets/towels/toys/etc) 2 to 3 times daily & can’t guarantee that we will know it is your pets or ours since a label cannot be assigned while being washed.Please help us with the end of the day rush by picking up your pet before 5pm the day he/she is going home.Would you like for your pet to have access to our outdoor run so that your he/she may enjoy some sunshine and fresh air?
