Branch Manager II

Reports to: Branch Operations Director

Major functions:

• Deliver on the Credit Union’s Promises with each service interaction.

• Foster a positive working environment for employee empowerment through coaching and support.

• Supervise the daily operations of the branch.

Duties / Responsibilities:

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by this position. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities and skills required of this position. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

• Supervise employees at the Branch, interviewing potential employees, arranging employee work schedules, maintaining and submitting records on employee hours, and performing employee reviews and disciplinary action.

• Maintain a cash drawer if necessary.

• Oversee the branch balancing at the end of the day ATM, Cash Dispensers, Vault, etc. Provide the proper follow up in order to resolve issues in a timely manner.

• Maintain levels of operating cash in line with security policies.

• Keep all branch staff informed on policies, procedures and regulations in a timely manner

• Resolve account problems and provide information to members efficiently and professionally while maintaining a high level of confidentiality

• Provide ongoing training, direction, and coaching to staff for the Sales and Service Culture and employee development.

• Ensure that the branch meets performance goals as established by the Credit Union

• Schedule and delegate departmental activities to ensure accomplishment of required tasks. May occasionally assist staff with the performance of their assigned duties.

• Establish, monitor, and improve initiatives/procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of member services without decreasing the audit trail and security of any entries and to ensure that all record keeping is kept current and accurate.

Community Relations

• Assist in maintaining relationships with dealers, realtors, members and related third parties. This includes developing a referral relationship, providing credit union materials, and participating in on-site visits

• Participate with branch employees in getting involved in community events

• Maintain involvement in community groups for purposes of developing new business prospects and raising awareness of the credit union.

• Be a visible presence in the local community. Promote the credit union and gain leads through participation in business, community, chamber, and charitable activities as assigned.

• Attend seminars, conferences, and other educational events, if necessary, to enhance knowledge base.

Member Service Representative:

• Create opportunities for expanded member relationship by determining the needs for additional product and services; recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions

• Process member’s cash and checks

• Remind delinquent members that their payments are due

Opening New Accounts:

• Thoroughly explain products and services to members. Prepare and process documentation for new accounts and collect share deposit

• Oversee the audit process for new accounts that are opened.

• Prepare an adverse action letter when products are denied.

• Be knowledgeable in IRA laws and paperwork.

Lending

• Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by determining member needs for additional products and services; recommend appropriate Credit Union solutions

• Review loan applications from members and potential member to determine feasibility of approving loan requests

• Follow applicable processes and procedures for completing the loan application package

• Approve loan requests for members who meet loan qualifications or refer applications to the appropriate individuals as per the loan policy

• Deny loan application and prepare an adverse action letter for loan requests that do not fall within current lending guidelines

General Sales Expectations:

• Successfully use effective Sales Champion skills and behaviors

• Build relationships with current and new members. Offer products and services that will help to fulfill their financial needs.

• Oversee the onboarding process that continues to build relationship with new members.

• Ensure members are being fully served

Other

• Answer telephones and handle member inquiries

• Process mail as required

• Attend education functions as required

• Maintain good, working knowledge of all credit union products and service

• Other duties that may be assigned from time to time

• Maintain good knowledge of all State and Federal laws governing credit union operations (BSA, Patriot Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, Truth in Lending, etc)

• Implements new procedures efficiently and effectively.

Education Requirements:

• Minimum of one year of experience in management or supervisory capacity.

• Minimum of one year of experience in loan processing.

• Minimum of one year of previous banking and/or credit union experience

• A two year college degree or completion of specialized course of study at a business or trade school or Completion of a[i] specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.

Experience:

• Ability to operate a 10 key calculator and a typewriter.

• Ability to communicate with members and other staff – clearly and concisely

• Good working knowledge of all credit union products and services

Interpersonal Skills

• A significant level of trust diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work will involve motivating and influencing others. Outside contacts will be important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) is necessary.

• The employee consistently is required to stand and sit, view computer screen, talk and hear, and lift/move up to 25 pounds.

• Ability to work overtime, attend meetings, seminars and travel.
