Accounting II

Prerequisites: Accounting I with grade of C or higher

Grade Level: 11-12 grade

Weighted Credit: Juniors and Seniors may receive a weighted credit of 1.5

Required Materials: Handheld Calculator, Pencil, Red Pen, Large Erasers

Course Description:

This course is designed to help students acquire a more thorough, in depth knowledge of accounting procedures and techniques utilized in solving business problems and making financial decisions. Students will develop skills in analyzing and interpreting information common to partnerships and corporations, preparing formal statements and supporting schedules, and using inventory and budgetary control systems.

Course Rationale:

Instruction in accounting plays an important role for students who are preparing for accounting careers after graduation – employment or college. It is also a crucial component of academic backgrounds for students who will pursue entrepreneurial ventures and small business ownership. All students, regardless of their career choice, can benefit from accounting instruction since it is an integral part of every business institution and organization.

• Complete the accounting cycle process for a corporation.

• Maintain cash control.

• Complete payroll procedures.

• Complete special accounting procedures.

• Demonstrate knowledge of computerized accounting systems.

Academic Honesty:

Academic honesty is very important. It is expected each student will protect their honor and integrity by being sure to hold to a high standard of academic honesty.

Basic Course Schedule:

This course is a full year course and will be presented as a hybrid online class due to this course being presented during the same class hour as Accounting I. Most materials and lectures will be accessed via the internet or school network. Students will receive lecture through videos and will be responsible for completing lessons on or before due dates without exception. Two simulations will be completed throughout the year as well as one research project.
