about what is happening in the course and/or on campus.

I will provide you with feedback on your assignments. My goal is to do this within one week

but occasionally it may take a little longer. Be sure to check the gradebook for my feedback.

I may message you if I see you are falling behind or if you miss a major exam. Please let me

know if you run into difficulties that prevent your submitting your work in a timely fashion.

Coursework: Students are expected to turn in assignments on a regular schedule throughout the semester. All assignments are due at the beginning of class the week after they are assigned. This allows a week to complete the chapters and exercises.

Homework assignments for each chapter in the TEXT (by Manzo) will be submitted in Canvas. PROBLEMS (from the lab manual) will be printed and turned in at the beginning of the class period when they are due. Cases will be submitted both in print AND on Canvas. Homework scores will usually be available on-line within one week after receipt of assignments.

Quizzes will be available for the week that the TEXT chapter is assigned and is due when the chapter exercises are due and will usually be taken in class.

A cumulative hands-on final will be given at the end of the semester.

Grading Policy: Grades will be based upon completion, timeliness and quality of assignments. Late assignments will be accepted for two additional weeks after it is due but will automatically be 50% off. Grades will be based on the following scale:

Adding/Dropping:

Students may add with an add code during the first two weeks of class. It is the student's responsibility to drop the course if they do not intend to complete the course; however, a student may be dropped from the course for nonparticipation if they do not turn in any assignments for a two week period. Weekly assignments made on Mondays will be due on Monday of the following week at the end of class (unless otherwise noted for holidays). Manzo Text quizzes will be due on Monday at the end of lab.

Late Work: Due to the fact that "life happens" I DO accept late work. Problems, Manzo Chapters, Quizzes and Cases will be accepted two weeks after the due date with the following stipulation: if it is late, it is 30% off. My goal is for you to learn the material. If life gets in the way only a couple of times, you can still pass my class.

September 24: Last day to file for Pass/No Pass November 11: Veteran's Day Holiday November 14: Last day to drop November 28-Dec 1: Thanksgiving Holiday December 9: Final Examination - 6-8:30 pm

Academic Honesty: Students caught copying, sharing work and/or plagiarizing will receive a failing grade on the assignment/test and in the course, as well as possible disciplinary action from the college.

Plagiarism Some students have trouble understanding what plagiarism is, so let's get that straight right away. Plagiarism includes copying writing or merely ideas from the published or unpublished work of another person without full, clear acknowledgment of the source. If you paraphrase or summarize what someone else has said, you must acknowledge that source even when you put those ideas into your own words. You are plagiarizing if you cut and paste bits and pieces of writing from the Internet or any other source and make it appear as if you wrote those words (i.e. if you don't use quotation marks and cite the source). Plagiarism also includes copying from yourself--that is, turning in material that you wrote for another class.

In this course, plagiarism detection software may be used on assignments you submit. If you're not sure what plagiarism is, check out the MJC Library "Avoid Plagiarism" page. It includes brief videos and tutorials.

Any assignment where academic dishonesty is involved will automatically receive an F (zero points), which may result in the student failing the course. A report may be filed. For additional information, see the MJC Standard of Student Conduct webpage.

Copyright Infringement: Students will need the use of Excel 2013 or later software to complete the assignments for the course. Student versions of the software are available for purchase at student pricing and labs are available on campus for student use. It is illegal to simply copy another student's software. Microsoft Office can be download from your student email account--instructions will be included in an announcement during the first week of class.
