Welcome to OCU and the Kramer School of Nursing! You can declare nursing as your major when you are admitted to the university; a separate application is not required. Once declared a nursing major, you can begin working with nursing advisors to customize your degree plan. If you are earning your first college degree, simply complete OCU's general education requirements and nursing prerequisites before your junior year. If you have completed an associate of science or art degree from a regionally accredited institution and have taken a class which will transfer for our religion course, you have met our general education requirements and may be eligible to start nursing coursework. If you have a full undergraduate or graduate degree from a regionally accredited institution, you have met our general education requirements and may be eligible to start nursing coursework.Transferring to OCU from another institution and have coursework to transfer? Additional information can also be found about submitting a course to be evaluated. Typically, courses evaluations may take up to two weeks, and perhaps longer during the summer months. Many nursing level courses are offered every fall and spring semester, and some are offered as summer courses. Choose:Part-time, if you have other full-time duties or prefer a more relaxed pace,Full-time, at a standard pace with summers off, with time for extracurricular activities and a full college experience,Accelerated, if you are a strong student who wants to finish your nursing courses in less than 18 months!Program requirements:A 3.00 cumulative GPA or higher. A cumulative GPA of 2.50 or higher in all science courses. All course attempt grades in all science courses will be calculated, not just the highest grade. A maximum of two attempts per course allowed. Completed junior-level nursing course prerequisites including (number of hours): Human Anatomy with a lab (3-5)* Human Physiology with a lab (3-5)* Microbiology with a lab (3-4) Introduction to Psychology (3) College chemistry course with a lab, preferably introductory, general, or organic chemistry (4-5). Maximum of two attempts on each of these courses. Minimum course grade accepted is a C. English proficiency as outlined in the English Proficiency Policy for Admission to NURS Courses.Not more than 6 credit hours of general education courses remaining before beginning 3000-level nursing courses. Minimum HESI exam composite score of 75 or minimum TEAS composite score of 78. Maximum of two attempts, on either or as a combination of the two exams. Science prerequisites appear above in bold type and must be completed prior to starting nursing courses. **Science courses are used in science gpa calculation, including all repeats and failures. Minimum 2.5 gpa required. Maximum of two attempts per course. A full semester of Human Anatomy with lab and a full semester of Human Physiology with lab may be substituted for Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II. This option requires the substitution of both courses, not just one course, and must be conducted in a live classroom and laboratory environment. No online courses accepted. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution will be accepted to meet the general education and elective requirements. An associate’s degree in science or art from an accredited institution will be accepted to the general education (***excluding religion) and elective requirements. ................
