Dear ACLS Provider Course student:

Thank you for registering to attend the ACLS Provider Course on Thursday, January 31st and Friday, February 1st, 2013. The course will be held on the following dates and times:

• 0830 – 1700 on January 31st;

• 0830 – 1330 on February 1st

The course will be held in the Community Room at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, 525 North Foster Street, Mitchell, SD. You are expected to attend and participate in the entire course.

**Required Textbook: American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support. The textbook is available through the Education Services Department at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. If you need a book, please indicate and include the book fee with your registration.

Text Book fee is $33.50. Text Book can be purchased online at cpr

How to Get Ready

The course is designed to teach you the lifesaving skills required to be both a team member and a team leader. The ACLS Provider Course covers extensive material in a short time; you will need to prepare for the course beforehand.

Pre-course Requirements

You should prepare for the course by doing the following:

1. Complete the pre-course checklist in the ACLS Provider Manual. Bring the checklist with you to the course.

2. Review and understand the 10 core cases in Part 5 of the ACLS Provider Manual.

3. Review and understand the BLS for Healthcare Provider skills before attending the ACLS Provider Course.

4. Review and complete the ECG and Pharmacology pre-course assessment test on the student website for this course eccstudent The course also includes a one hour lecture on how to read and interpret ECGs as well as a one hour lecture on ACLS pharmacology.

5. Print your scores for the pre-course assessment tests and bring them with you to class. You will be well prepared if you complete the pre-course checklist.

What to Bring

Bring your ACLS Provider Manual to class. The 2010 Handbook of Emergency Cardiovascular Care for Healthcare Providers can also be a reference guide during the course. It can also be purchased online at aha.channing- website or on the day of the course for $15.95.
