EDUCATOR-IN-THE WORKPLACE

GUIDELINES 2008

These are the guidelines for the Educator-in-the-Workplace program.

• Educator will participate in the program for the summer of 2008.

• Educators will work at an assigned company for 5 days under the direction of a business mentor. The internship can be taken over a period of time if the educator and employer agree. The educator must complete a total of 40 hours.

• At the completion educators will receive a $750.00 stipend for participation.

• Educator will receive Act 48 credits.

• Educators may not change internships after they have been finalized.

• Educators may not choose an internship at an employer that they currently work or have worked for in the past. (ex. summer employment). Educators may not choose an internship with family members.

• Educator will keep a journal of daily activities. Educator will submit a copy of the journal with thoughts and reflections.

• Educators will develop a lesson plan which relates work-site experience to the curriculum which will be used in their classroom or with staff members. Details of the lesson plan will be sent to the educator after placement has been approved.

• Educator will fill out a survey at the completion of the internship.

• Educator may be asked to do a presentation at a Montgomery County Education and Workforce Partnership meeting to share their experiences.

• Educator will not receive stipend until all requirements have been met. All requirements MUST be completed by September 30, 2008, to receive the stipend.

• A committee will review all applications and the educator will be notified if chosen.

• There are limited placements available. Do not wait to submit.
