Install the software in the following order, below you will find the detailed instructions for the each product:

Step 1. Install Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2 Trial

You need to install the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition, we strongly recommend installing the Windows Server R2 Enterprise Edition with SP2 trial edition but you can install the SP1 version first and then upgrade it to SP2.

1. To install the R2 SP2 version you can follow the next link. You need to ask for the key that will be sending by email as well as the link to download the software.

Important notes:

During the setup of Windows Server 2003 you must specify the following settings:

Create a NTFS partition.

Licensing Modes. Select the default as shown below:

Computer name and Administrator Password:

IMPORTANT: Set password as the Administrator password. This is password is required to work correctly during the labs.

And confirm that you want to use the password when ask you to continue using the current password.

Networking settings.

Select the Typical settings as shown below:

Workgroup or Computer Domain.

Leave the default option to work without a domain.

When the installation is done, login as Administrator with password as password.

When asking to install updates just click Finish and then click Yes to confirm.

Step 2. Installation of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Hotfix (KB925336):

1. Open a web browser and enter the following link:

2. Download the WindowsServer2003-KB925336-x86-ENU.exe file.

3. Run the file to apply the hotfix using the default installation.

4. Restart the computer login as Administrator with password as password.

Step 3. Installation of Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel | Add or Remove Programs"

2. In the opened window click "Add/Remove Windows components" in the left bar

3. Windows Components Wizard opens.

• Check "E-mail Services"

• Uncheck "Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration"

4. Select "Application Server" and click "Details".

5. Check the following items if they are not checked in:

• Application Server Console



• Enable Network COM+ access

• Enable Network DTC access

6. Select Internet Information Services (IIS) and click "Details".

7. Uncheck "Front Page 2002 Server Extensions" (if checked).

8. Check the following items if they are not checked in:

• Common Files

• Internet Information Services Manager

• SMTP Service

9. Select "World Wide Web Service" and click "Details".

10. Check the following items if they are not checked in:

• Active Server Pages

• Remote Administration (HTML)

• World Wide Web Service

11. Click OK to close the World Wide Web Service window.

12. Click OK to close the IIS window.

13. Click OK to close the Application Server window.

14. Click Next at the Windows Component Wizard window.

15. If asks insert the right CD of Windows Server 2003 in the CD driver.

16. When is done click Finish.

17. Close the “Add or Remove” programs window.

Step 4. Configuration of Services

1. Open the Services manager by selecting Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.

2. Change following services from Automatic to Manual by right clicking on the service, selecting Properties and changing the Startup type to Manual and then clicking OK.

▪ Print Spooler

3. Close the Services window.

4. Restart the computer.

Step 5. Activate Windows Server 2003

If you use a trial version of Windows Server 2003 you must activate the product to avoid future problems with the students during the class.

To activate the product follow the following steps.

1. From the Start button, select All Programs > Activate Windows.

2. Select Yes, lets activate Windows over the internet now.

3. Click Next.

4. Select No, I don’t want to register now; let’s just activate Windows.

5. Click Next.

6. A notification that the product has been activated will appear.

7. Click OK.

Step 6. Create the SQLService account

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management.

2. Expand Local Users and Groups, right click Users and select New User.

3. Enter SQLService for User Name.

4. Enter password as Password and Confirm password.

5. Unckeck the “User must change password at next logon” check box.

6. Check “Password never expires”.

7. Check “User cannot change password”.

8. Click Create.

9. Click Close.

10. Close the Computer Management window.

Step 7. Installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Trial

You need to download SQL Server 2005 from the Microsoft site. If you already have the product go directly to the setup instructions. Next you will download from the SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition 32 bits version Self-extracting executables

1. Open a web browser and enter the following link:



2. Click on the Download SQL Server 2005 Trial Software link.

3. Click on the Download SQL Server 2005 from the TechNet Trial Software Center link.

4. Select your Language and country and then click on the > button.

5. The sign in into the Microsoft web site. You must be registered to continue.

6. The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Evaluation Edition. Trial will appear.

7. Click the Continue button.

8. Scroll down and click on the X86 Executable link.

9. Save the file on C:\Software. The process to download the software will take some time. Wait patiently.

10. Once done downloading the software, from C:\Software execute SQLEVAL.EXE file

11. Click Run in the Security Warning dialog.

12. Leave the default folder and click Next.

13. Click Finish when done extracting the files.

14. Launch the setup.exe file under c:\SQLEVAL\Servers.

15. On the End User License Agreement page of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup wizard, review the license agreement and select I accept the licensing terms and conditions and click Next to accept the license agreement.

16. On the Installing Prerequisites page of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup wizard click Install.

17. When the installation of prerequisites completes click Next.

18. On the Welcome to the Microsoft SQL Server Installation Wizard page click Next.

19. On the System Configuration Check page click Next (it may show one Warning about Minimum Hardware Requirement).

20. On the Registration Information page click Next.

21. On the Components to Install page select all components.

22. Click Advanced.

23. Click the little triangle next to “Documentation, Samples, …” feature icon and select “Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive”,

24. Click Next.

25. On the Instance Name page select Default Instance and click Next.

26. On the Service Account page enter “SQLService” as User name, “password” as Password.

27. Click Next.

28. On the Authentication Mode page select “Windows Authentication Mode”.

29. Click Next.

30. On the Collation Settings page leave the default and click Next.

31. On the Report Server Installation Options page leave the default and click Next.

32. On the Error and Usage Report Settings page click Next (do not select any of the “Automatically send …” boxes)

33. Review the components to be installed on the Ready to Install page and click Install.

34. Once all components show “Setup finished” in the Setup Progress window, click Next.

35. On the Completing Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup page click Finish.

36. From the Start menu, select All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Documentation and Tutorials > Samples > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Samples (English).

37. At the Welcome page, click Next.

38. Leave the destination folder as it is and click Next.

39. Click Install to configure the samples.

40. Click Finish when is done.

Step 8. Installation of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2

Next must download and install the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2, you can go to the Microsoft web site and look for it at .

1. Open a web browser and enter the following link:



2. The Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2 will appear, scroll down and locate the Files in This Download section.

3. Click on the SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU.exe file and save the file in c:\Software.

4. Once the download finish, run the SQLServer2005SP2-KB921896-x86-ENU.exe file to install the SP2 using the default installation.

5. When the installation is completed a Computer Reboot Required dialog will open, click OK.

6. After clicking OK the Installation Progress page will be enable again, click Next and then click Next again in the next page.

7. Finally in the Additional information page, uncheck “Launch the user Provisioning Tools for Windows Vista …” and click Finish.

8. Restart the computer login as Administrator.

Step 9. Set SQL Server Network Protocols

1. From the Start menu, select Programs > Microsoft SQL Server 2005 > Configuration Tools > SQL Server Configuration Manager.

2. In the SQL Server Configuration Manager window, expand SQL Server 2005 Network Configuration, and click Protocols for MSSQLSERVER.

3. Right-click Shared Memory, select Disable and then click OK in the Warning dialog.

4. Right-click VIA, and select Disable if it’s available and then click OK in the Warning dialog.

5. Right-click Named Pipes, select Enable and then click OK in the Warning dialog.

6. Right-click TCP/IP, select Enable and then click OK in the Warning dialog.

7. Close SQL Server Configuration Manager when it looks like this.

Step 10. Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Trial

1. If you have the Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition Trial version DVD then mount it and starting it executing the autorun.exe from the \vs folder.

2. If you don’t have the DVD then download the software and then run it from the following link, you need to be registered in the page:



3. On the Visual Studio 2005 Setup wizard, click Install Visual Studio 2005.

4. On the Welcome to the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Installation wizard page wait for the loading of components to complete and click Next.

5. Select I accept the terms of the License Agreement, click Next.

6. Click OK when the message allowing using the products for 90 days appears.

7. On the Select features to install page, select Custom and then click Next.

8. On the Select features to install page, deselect Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

9. Click Install and wait for the installation to complete.

10. Then click Finish on the Security Notes page.

11. Click Exit.

Step 11. Installation of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1.

1. From the Microsoft web site download the Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Service Pack 1 entering the following link:

2. Once you download the VS80sp1-KB926601-X86-ENU.exe file, execute it to install the SP1 using the default installation.

3. When this successfully message appear click OK.

4. Restart the computer as Administrator.

Step 12. Installation of Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 SP2

1. Open a web browser and navigate to:

2. Download the stsv2.exe file and then run it.

3. Accept the license agreement and click Next.

4. Under Type of Installation, select Server Farm.

5. Click Next.

6. On the Summary screen click Install.

7. At the end of installation, the Configure Administrative Virtual Server web page opens.

8. Click the Cancel button located at the right bottom and you will notice none change.

9. Close the web browser.

10. Restart the computer as Administrator.

Step 13. Configure Default Web Site for 2.0

1. From the Start menu, select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

2. In Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager, expand (you server name) > Web Sites.

3. Right-click Default Web Site and select Properties.

4. In Default Web Site Properties dialog, click the tab.

5. In the version drop-down box, select 2.0.50727.

6. Click OK.

7. Exit from IIS Manager.

Step 14. Install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 Trial

1. Download the BtsRedistW2k3EN32.cab CAB file for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) from the following link and save the file in C:\Software\BizTalkCab:



2. Open a web browser and navigate to:

3. Download the BTS2006Eval_EN.exe file in c:\Software.

4. Once you download BTS2006Eval_EN.exe extract it in c:\Software\Biztalk.

5. From c:\Software\Biztalk execute the setup.exe file to launch the setup of BizTalk.

6. On the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 page, click Install Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 on this computer.

7. On the Customer Information page click Next.

8. On the License Agreement page, click Yes, I accept the terms of the license agreement to accept the terms of the License Agreement, and then click Next.

9. On the Component Installation page, expand Additional Software and check Business Rules Components.

10. Click Next.

11. On the Redistributable Prerequisites page, select Automatically install the redistributable prerequisites from a CAB file.

12. Click the Browse button.

13. Navigate to the C:\Software\BizTalkCab folder and select the BtsRedistW2k3EN32.cab file then click Open.

14. When you have the setting as shown above click Next.

15. On the Summary page, click Install to start the installation process.

16. On the Installation Completed page, verify that the Launch BizTalk Server Configuration check box is selected, and then click Finish. This starts the Configuration Wizard.

17. On the Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 Configuration start page, ensure that Basic Configuration is selected.

18. Under Database, ensure that you enter the name of the computer where SQL Server is installed. SQL Server must be installed on the local computer for basic configuration.

19. Under Service Credential, in the User name text box, enter Administrator as User name and password as Password.

20. Click Configure.

21. In the configuration dialog that opens, click Yes to accept the account.

22. On the Summary page, make sure there are not errors in the components to be validated, you may get a Warning about the SharePoint Adapter but that is fine.

23. Click Next.

24. Wait during the Configuration is performed.

25. When done, on the Completion page review all the components were configured, you may get a Failed message for the SharePoint Adapter this won’t make problems during the labs.

26. Uncheck the Launch Custom Configuration check box.

27. Click Finish.

28. Close all.

Congratulations, you have done installing the software required for WA1536.

Installation Verification

1. Restart the computer and login as Administrator with “password” as password.

2. If the password of Administrator is something else, change it to be “password”.

3. From the Start menu, select All Programs > Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 > BizTalk Server Configuration.

4. Make sure all the components have a green check mark next to them. Note. SharePoint Adapter and BAS could fail which is OK.

5. Launch Visual Studio. From the Start menu, select All Programs > Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 > Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.

6. From the menu, select Help > About Microsoft Visual Studio.

7. Make sure you can see these components listed below:

• Microsoft Visual C#

• Microsoft Visual Web Developer

• Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006

8. Close all open programs.
