The LOI is presented as the first object in a course in order to provide learners with what they need to know to be successful in their training activity. Red text denotes sample data. Please replace the red text with the appropriate titles and/or information as it relates to your course. If a specific item provided in the sample data does not apply to the course (for example, the course is not considered Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), as shown in Section 2. of the template), that text can be omitted from the LOI.

Letter of Instruction (LOI)

1. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The training program [Name] consists of [X] courses: Course Number 1, Course 1 Name; Course Number 2, Course 2 Name; and Course Number 3, Course 3 Name. All personnel assigned to a Unit Name will take Course Name in addition to their specific role training.

2. COMPUTER CONFIGURATION and COURSE REQUIREMENTS:

a. This courseware was developed to support playability using [browser] as the targeted browser. If you experience issues with the courseware rendering within the targeted browser, please refer to Section 5, KNOWN ISSUES, below. The Browser Check link in the horizontal tab bar of the Learner View or any ALMS page will assist with determining browser compatibility prior to launching this courseware.

b. Some or all of this course has been assessed as Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and will require you to have a valid Common Access Card (CAC) and card reader for access.

3. RESOURCES:

a. If you are new to the ALMS, or you need to re-familiarize yourself with navigating the ALMS, which includes launching, registering for, and completing courseware, you may access the “ALMS Tutorial” from the horizontal tab bar at the top of the Learner View or any ALMS page.

b. Refer to the “ALMS Learner Log-in Instructions” located at: (Copy the URL and paste it into your browser address field to access.)

4. TO TAKE THIS COURSE:

a. Go to the My Courses channel from the left navigation bar of the Learner View, and then click on the course card to access your training. Note that some Topics have lessons that must be completed in an enforced sequence. In these cases, you will only see a Launch button when the lesson is available to be launched.

b. You must complete each Check on Learning.

c. If you must exit the course for any reason, use the “Exit” button within the lesson. Do not use the browser exit (the red “x” in the upper right of the browser window). You can resume the course by accessing the course card from the My Courses section of the Learner View.

d. A score of [X] % or better is required for successful completion of the module exam. All exam questions are mandatory, therefore, if you exit the test early you will receive a failed attempt at mastery, which will count against your attempts limit.

7. VIEWING YOUR COURSE AFTER COMPLETION:

To “REACHBACK” to a completed topic, click the Home link from the left navigation bar of the Learner View. On the ALMS Home Page, click the Completed Training link in the left navigation bar, and then locate and click on the completed courses to access individual Topics. By policy, you will not be able to reopen previously completed tests or exams.

This training is considered recurring and requires recertification. Your initial certification will be valid for 1095 days (or 3 years) after acquisition. You will be able to register access and recertify within a window of X days after acquisition. The course recertification assignment will appear in your Learner View, under the Courses by Due Date filter, at that time. If your certification expires before you can register and complete all of the required items, you will need to re-acquire the initial certification

CAUTIONARY NOTE: Re-launching completed lesson content does not award credit toward a recertification. If you need to take a course for recertification, please use the registration functions to re-enroll.
