Inter Sectoral Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordination Group TERMS OF REFERENCE Objective Strengthen mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) programing and build common understanding and language among actors by developing strategies for MHPSS in the Syrian context, ensuring coordination and foster synergies among actors, facilitating the mainstreaming of protection in health and other sectors, and sharing knowledge and best practices in MHPSS in emergency settings. Reporting The group will report to the Health and Protection and Community Services Sectors, including its Sub-Sectors.Membership UN agencies, IGOs, INGOs, Local NGOs, governmental technical bodies and interest groups active in the psychosocial and mental health domains in Syria, which are members either of the Health or Protection and Community Services Sectors, including its Sub-Sectors. Given the technical profile of the group, each agency will ensure to the extent possible that the group meetings are attended by the organization’s relevant technical experts.The chair and the co chair will be selected by voting of the members, and yearly renewed alternatively . Interested agencies or Organizations may step forward for this responsibility. Duties and responsibilities Develop strategies for MHPSS in the Syrian context: Analyze MHPSS activities with regard congruence with IASC guidelinesSet definitions and standards for MHPSS activities as per IASC standards and other related standards.Develop strategies to guide MHPSS programing in the Syrian context Ensure coordination and foster synergies among actors:Discuss progress and achievement and keep members updated of implementation of programs. Strengthen coordination and engagement of MHPSS national actors through information sharing, discussion of common challenges and way forward. Develop an interagency referral network.Facilitate the mainstreaming of protection in health and other sectors: Organize inductions on IASC MHPSS guidelines for Inter-Sector Coordination Group members, other interested organizations and across other sectors,Share recommendations, and develop initiatives to mainstream protection /PSS in the health sector and other sectors. Exchange knowledge and best practices in emergency settings. Discuss technical aspects of the MHPSS emergency programming in Syria, Exchange practices and identify best practices. Disseminate global best practice guidelines such as WHO and IASC Guidelines for MHPSS in Emergency settings.Discuss and disseminate MHPSS reports, tools, documents, materials and lessons learned. Advocate for integrated, comprehensive, multi-layered and complementary approaches in providing appropriate MHPSS supports and services.Meeting Arrangements: The joint working group on MHPSS will meet on a monthly basis. Ad-hoc meetings may be called depending on tasks and exigencies.TOR will be revised every year unless there are ad-hoc reasons ................
