“Get to 50” Spelling Activities

After the pretest on Monday, please complete the following activities. Each spelling activity is assigned a point value. It is up to you to choose from the list items you wish to complete. Remember your total must be at least 50 to receive full credit for spelling for the week.

Your activities must be completed and turned in by Thursday. Your paper must include a full heading, and each activity must be labeled with the points value to get full credit.

Spelling word choices

1. Write your spelling words in ABC order. (10 points)

2. Write a poem using at least 8 spelling words. (15 points)

3. Use graph paper or the website to create a word search using all of your spelling words. (15 points)

4. Create a cartoon strip using at least 8 spelling words. (20 points)

5. Write your spelling words 4 times each. (20 points)

6. Divide each spelling word into syllables. (10 points)

7. Put 10 spelling words into sentences that help show meaning. Use only one word per sentence. (20 points)

8. Type your spelling list 4 times on a computer, with each list typed in a different font. (15 points)

9. Create a game that can be used to practice your spelling words. (30 points)

10. Ladder words- Write each spelling word as shown below. (20 points)

11. Cut 10 spelling words out of a newspaper or magazine. Glue them to construction paper. (15 points)

12. Write a story using 10 words. (15 points)

13. Use a cell phone to find out how to spell your words using the numbers. Write the word first, then the number spelling. (15 points)

14. Complete a vocabulary chart for 10 words. (30 points)

15. Write an advertisement using at least 8 words. (15 points)

16. Organize the words under categories you create. (15 points)

17. Make a hidden picture where you hide 8 spelling words in the picture you draw. (20 points)
