See pre-property inventory Contact us what does acura service and maintenance codes mean? Main code: Maintenance Required: Replacing engine oil B Replace engine oil, oil filter, inspect front and rear brakes, check parking brake adjustment, expiration date for tire repair kit, tie rod ends, steering gearbox, suspension components, drive shaft boots, brake hoses , fluid levels,

exhaust system, fuel lines and any other maintenance items specific to your Acura. differential fluid What is the difference between the Acura A&B service codes? When a service message appears, there is a code below the maintenance message due that indicates what type of Acura service is required. When the code starts with an A, it means that the engine oil needs to be replaced. When the code starts with a B, a more involved service is required.

Items B include some of the following items 每 engine oil replacement and oil filter, inspection of front and rear brakes, parking brake adjustment check and expiration date for tire repair kit, as well as inspect ing tie rod ends, steering gearbox, suspension components, drive shaft boots , brake hoses, all fluid levels, exhaust system and fuel lines. What do Acura maintenance subitems mean? Additionally, if there is a numeric portion of the code below the maintenance-due message, this number correlates with a maintenance sub item. Here is a description of the sub-items and their meaning: The number 1 indicates that the tires need to be rotated. Number 2 requires that the air cleaner element and dust and pollen filter be replaced and the drive belt

inspected. If number 3 appears, the transmission fluid should be replaced. The number 4 indicates that the spark plugs and timing belt (if equipped) need to be replaced and valve clearance and water pump need to be inspected. The number 5 means that the engine cooler needs to be replaced. Number 6 means that the rear differential fluid needs to be replaced (if the vehicle is

equipped). Maintenance and acura service messages A number of maintenance messages may appear on the dashboard when service is required. All of the information below can be found in the Owner's Manual

or online on the Acura website. Conveniently, Acura vehicles alert the driver when service should be due soon, when it is due, and when he is due. The maintenance message will soon appear when the remaining engine oil life is between 6 and 15%. In addition, a message will appear informing the driver of the exact percentage of the oil's life. When the remaining service life of

the engine oil drops between one and five percent, the due maintenance message now appears, along with the percentage indicator. Finally, when the engine oil life has passed, the service of the past maintenance due will appear, as well as a negative distance after driving for more than ten kilometers after the maintenance requirement. You can reduce the cost by $300-$400 if you: - buy your own oil (walmart) - buy the spark plugs (amazon) - buy the air filter and air filter from the cabin and replace yourself (amazon) - If the

store where you bought your tires has life-long balance/rotation (assuming you no longer have OEM tires). Service codes Acura A: Replace engine oil B: Replace engine oil and filter. Inspect various systems and components 1: Turn tyres and check tyre pressure and condition 2: Replace the air cleaner, check the unit belt and replace the dust and pollen filter 3: Replace the

transmission fluid and transfer fluid (if equipped) 4: Replace the spark plugs, replace the timing belt (if equipped), inspect the water pump and inspect the clearance value 5: Replace the engine cooler 6: Replace the rear differential fluid (if equipped) Registered Member Start the line entry: Oct 2006 Age: 80 Posts: 241 Received 8 Likes in 8 Posts thank you. I've done all this before

last year. 1200-1500? That sounds excessive, even for a dealership... a Honda/Acura store close to me will do all this for less than 400. I guess I'm lucky to have these guys close to me for things I don't diy. mrgold35 Quote: Originally posted by Tomtwtww 1200-1500? for 400. I think I'm lucky to have these guys close to me for things I don't diy. That's why I try to do as much as I can or take advantage of cheaper services in other repair shops around town. I just don't trust other stores for something that is Acura specific and can be TSB and/or warranty related like A/C, sh-awd, engine or AT. Push it until my RDX comes my just alertme with code

A36... So I know that A means basic oil change... 3 means front diff fluid? I had my drain+fill transmission fluid in May 2016, 6,000 miles ago... 6 means rear diff fluid, ok, ben hoping that... I googled A36, and it appeared on the Honda Rdigeline forum as indicated: A= Oil Change 3= Air Filter 6= Differential Fluid Which one is correct? Besides, I believe the air filter was made within

15,000 miles... It was supposed to have been changed by the dealer I picked up, or the previous owner did it six months before trading last year, anyway, it's new... And when I checked the air filter in April, it looked clean, missing something??? Thank you!!? mrgold35 The codes listed in the post above #2 are correct for RDX. A= Oil change 3= Replace transmission fluid and

transfer fluid 6= Differential fluid Acura technology can reset individual codes from 1 to 6 at any time. If you reset by 15%, only the codes shown will be reset. The M.I.D. does not restart automatically if you do extra services not shown in M.I.D. Is there a chance that the 5AT and air filter has been changed and the IndividualLy M.I.D. 1-6 codes have not been restarted and it has

come now? I change my 5AT every 30K, change my cabin filter every year, clean my K/N fall in the engine filter annually, and do my rotations/balance at Discount Tires. I still make my fluid changes in acura (engine, 5AT, rear differential) and tell the technology about what I did to reset the codes 1-6 (those that show or not). I still keep a record written on a smartphone app (Road

Trip) as a backup just in case the technology doesn't reset any code to an extra service not shown in M.I.D. I don't know if you redefined your M.I.D. between the 100%-20% oil life range if it also reset any 1-6 codes you can't see? My gut says maybe. Push it until it comes Ok, so I had the transmission fluid replaced at the dealer in May, however, neither front or rear diff were

touched... I've been waiting to see a MID message requesting new fluid diff since I got it in late February... How much does a diff fluid change cost? Luckily, I got a dealer service coupon for an oil change of $49 vs. $70, or something... Okay, the transmission fluid is new, but the transmission fluid and rear (diff) needs to be exchanged... The only thing left are spark plugs!!!

mrgold35 generally cost me about $280-$300 for 5AT, transfer case, and sh-awd change from rear diff at dealership. Difficult to understand the exact cost, since I usually have other services performed at the same time. My dealership makes 1X 3qt 5AT/6AT drain re-fill for about $100 instead of drain/unit/3X refill for about I think the back is only $90. I usually make my 5AT/6AT

fluid changes around 30,000 miles. Being old school, going from 60,000 to 120,000 miles of M.I.D. changes seems like a long time for me to change AT fluids. I have +340,000 miles between the three vehicles with zero AT problems (so far). I bought my spark plugs from Amazon for my TSX/RDX and replaced them at the dealership around the 100,000-mile mark. I noticed that

my TSX and RDX felt like it had come back some lost HP, started easier, improved the mpgs, and a slightly better throttle response. I decided to change my spark plugs on my MDX to 75,000 miles instead of waiting up to 160,000 km to keep it in better working condition. Push it until hmmm comes... I'm beginning to realize how out of touch my local acura dealer is... They didn't

know what a 3x3 drain and filler was, and charged over $200 for just one transmission drain and fill... I DON'T want an independent store playing a delicate system like SH-AWD... Many of them have probably never heard of it before, or at least where I do most of my chores... So my Stealership will probably want $350, okay... Also, should I rely on an independent to install the

spark plugs? With the intercooler, I don't know what i should think about it... What spark plugs have you got, and what are the best and most improved spark plugs I could get... I know my fuel economy will improve, I'm counting on it for good, and I'd like to make this thing work smooth as a V6... In the end, I want to be pushing 300hp on the crank... 250-270whp, 0-60 in area 5.5 on

a cold day... Kind of off the subject, though... OP, sorry to hijack your wire, but I did not want to post a new one, but I do not think you are using more... Thank you... mrgold35 I did NGK Spark Plug Laser Iridium SILKR8A-S from Amazon for about $10 per plug for my RDX way back on Jan/14 (don't know how much now for the plugs). I think spark plugs, brakes, A/C service,

antifreeze, tires/suspension/alignments, and other accessories (electric steering, alternator, serpentine belt, radiator systems, etc.) are good for third-party stores. I prefer Acura Tech for anything exclusive to the Honda/Acura brand like 5AT, sh-awd, electrical problems/harnesses, ELS system, navi, i-Vtec engine repairs, etc... I was on average about 25.5-26.5 mpg combined on

my TSX before the spark plugs and about 27 mpg after combined. My RDX and MDX already receive low quality MPGs compared to my TSX. My RDX was around 18.5-19.5 mpgs combined before spark plugs change and mid-upper 19s and some low 20s after the spark plug change. I have Hondata, heat shield gasket, K/N drop-in filter, ETS intercooler, and 70% hwy of which

also helps with mpgs along with the power. In a perfect world, Acura technology should make the drain/fill/drive repeat 3X to swap I think about 90% of the AT fluid for about $300-$350 (mostly labor). It is supposed to be extremely bad for Honda/Acura AT to make a third-party transmission fluid change that makes the 100% a one flush/replacement of the AT fluid. It may have

been a coincidence; but, I did it with an old 97 4AT Honda Accord with 120,000 miles in ODO before I knew it. My 4AT died at about 8K and I had to replace it with a 4AT rescue yard. It could have been the 100% flush type, wrong fluid, and/or just the 4AT hour to die. That's when Honda made solid 4AT along with I-4 engines. Saving $50 for a 3rd party service from AT cost me

$1200 on the road with my 97th Agreement. Last edited by mrgold35; 09-04-2016 at 12:15 pm. I am torn between the New Orleans metropolitan area, and I generally choose to have my work done in a small town (12,500) in Mississippi.... That's where I spend 33% of my life... People are nicer and everything is much more accessible... I have a local

store make my oil changes is that they fall on the right days, otherwise it is the Acura dealer down here... Since RDX (2/26) has done several things... I've had two oil changes... I had the transmission fluid replaced... I had a console armrest installed (didn't have one)... Brake lamp... Abd, I needed a start six weeks ago... It's got new brakes and tires, and I believe everything else is

done... The other thing I might need is spark plugs,.. Would you let an Indy do that? Member registered absolutely I would do. Hilltop Auto in San Francisco, an expert in Acura, for example. In MS, I have a Hobda dealer, an oil exchange store that is very good,

and a good friend of a relative who has a transmission store and makes oil changes and basic maintenance... And there are some little garages, no big deal... I've never seen an NSX in my life... I doubt there's one less than 50 miles from me now... I live in a place where no one knows anything, to say it right... I know spark plugs are speech sockets... I can even do it myself, but

there's an engine cover and an intercooler on the way... It's no big deal, but I don't want to have to deal with everywhere... I've done a lot of work before, I'm done!!! If it was a '90s four-gray deal, I'd do it myself... More or less how much would a cheap place to install Registered member My RDX is only 56k miles away, so the plugs haven't gone up yet. It seems that the job is not

bad if you have decent mechanical skills. Otherwise, given the area where you live, I'd also probably take you to Acura. Acura. Wow, just 56k miles? I'm at 183, 000. I'm going to have to ask about that at the dealer's soon... I know they're going to try to sell all kinds of other things... I think that's all I need. I hope to start working on the mods soon... I/C is easy to remove. 3 screws for the cooler, loosen 2 hose clamps and 2 screws to pull the recirc valve. There is a how to do in the DIY section and if

you go to page 2, you can see photos I uploaded. They are not all the easiest to achieve, but if you have a decent soquee with extensions it is completely doable. With I/C out of the way, the coils are right in front of you and it's a 10-minute job. You can spend a few hours in the afternoon and $30-40 on spark plugs, or take it to a dealer where they will probably charge over $200. If

you find a good independent mechanic, they will probably charge 50-75% of the dealer's price, depending on the job.
