Part 3 Installing the Network Adapter (for Win 98)

1. Choosing a network adapter

There are many brands of network adapter that fit different interfaces, manufacturers and operating systems and their installation procedures differ. If the network adapter installation procedures below do not fit your system, please refer to the installation instruction provided with your network adapter.

2. Installing a network adapter

We shall outline the steps for installation with Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows NT and Windows 2000.

First turn off your computer and insert the network adapter, then restart your computer.

➢ Windows 98 English Version –ADSL Network Adapter Installation

＊CHECK！Please prepare the Windows 98 CD-ROM in advance

|1. Click on the [Start] button at the bottom left |[pic] |

|When the Start menu appears, select [Settings] and | |

|then click on [Control Panel]. | |

|2 Double-click on the [Add New Hardware] icon in the |[pic] |

|3. Close all other open programs then click [Next]. |[pic] |

|4. Your system will search for new hardware. Press |[pic] |

|5. If your network adapter is shown in the Devices |[pic] |

|box, select [Yes, the device is in the list] and | |

|highlight the network adapter name. Click [Next]. | |

|6. If the system detects a problem, press [Finish] |[pic] |

|and check the network adapter. | |

|7. Select the [Driver] tab and press [Update |[pic] |

|8. When the [Update Device Driver Wizard] appears, |[pic] |

|press [Next]. | |

|9. Select [Search for a better driver than the one |[pic] |

|your device is using now], then press [Next] | |

|10. If your network adapter driver is on a disk, |[pic] |

|insert the disk then check [Floppy disk drives] Click| |

|[Next]. | |

|11. Select [The updated driver (Recommended)] then |[pic] |

|click [Next]. | |

|12. The [Update Device Driver Wizard] will help you |[pic] |

|find a driver. Click [Next] to install the program. | |

|13. At this point, you should insert the Windows |[pic] |

|98CD-ROM. In the [Copy files from] box, enter the | |

|location of the disk. Press [OK]. | |

|14. Your system is installing and copying files. |[pic] |

|Please wait. | |

|15. The updating process is complete. Click [Finish].|[pic] |

|6. Finally, click [Yes] to restart your computer. |[pic] |
