Research Interests

My laboratory has two basic areas of interest. The first is the pathogenesis of fibrotic lung disease. The second is pulmonary host defense following bone marrow transplantation (BMT). Specific interests in these areas are as follows:

Fibrotic Lung Disease:

1) The role of chemokines and eicosanoids in the pathogenesis of experimental fibrosis

2) The role of circulating fibrocytes in the pathogenesis of fibrosis

3) The role of viral infections in the exacerbation of experimental fibrosis

4) Epithelial/fibroblast interactions in fibrosis

5) Viral-induced fibrosis in the aged lung

Host Defense post-BMT:

1) The role of eicosanoids in regulating alveolar macrophage and neutrophil function post-BMT

2) Reconstitution of innate immunity to Pseudomonas aeruginosa post-BMT

3) Reconstitution of adaptive immunity to gammaherpesvirus post-BMT
