Success Criteria:*To use language to express their ideas.* To express themselves effectively, showing awareness of the listener.*To listen to what others say. Differentiation:HA-To play in teams- can they write down their down words?MA- To play in teams- teacher to scribe the words.LA- To play in ne group- teacher to scribe the words.Activity:Explain that we are going to think of as many different words to describe the character pictures as we can. These words are called adjectives. Show the children a picture of a character (any character that will prompt discussion e.g. troll, witch, fairy) now turn the sand timer and explain that they need to think of as many describing words. Start the children off by giving examples e.g. scary, gruesome… Can they begin to think of their own? Record their ideas down on a whiteboard until the time is up. How many describing words did we think of? Can we beat our record? Show them the next character picture and repeat. Extend- split the children into teams and see if they can beat each other’s score. KEY NOTES:Demonstrate language and vocabulary and start each round. Before the activity practice altogether to think of some describing words.
