ADJECTIVES

In French, Adjectives have the same number and gender as the noun they modify. If the adjective is not a predicate adjective then it is positioned AFTER the noun it modifies unlike English placement before the noun. There is a small list of exceptions to be memorized later.

There are 4 forms of the French Adjective:

Masculine Feminine Masculine Feminine

Singular Singular Plural Plural

MOST Adjectives ending in vowels (EXCEPT unaccented e) are made feminine by adding the letter e and plural by adding the letter s to the singular.
