------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Macintosh Font Files

This directory contains PostScript, TrueType, and bit-mapped versions of the GeoAge font group. The files for each font are grouped in a self-extracting Stuffit archive and then BinHex encoded.

gFA_mac_1.1.sea.hqx GeoAgeFullAlpha Font - Contains most geologic age characters, all lower-case alphabet, and all upper-case alphabet. The archive will expand to form a folder containing a PostScript font file, a bit-mapped font suitcase, and a TrueType font suitcase

GeoAgeFulAlpha.bmap - Bit-map version of GeoAgeFullAlpha

GeoAgeFulAlp - PostScript version of GeoAgeFullAlpha

GeoAgeFullAlpha.suit - TrueType (scaleable vector) font suitcase

Font Installation on Macintosh -

PostScript vs TrueType -

a. It is not necessary to install both the PostScript and the TrueType versions. Just install one of these.

b. The PostScript version is recommended if you have a PostScript printer.

c. Definitely install the PostScript and NOT the TrueType version of you use Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Type Manager (ATM).

d. If you install the PostScript version of a font, be sure to also install the bit-map version.

To Install, with Mac OS 7.x or later:

1. Remove any previous versions of these fonts from the "Fonts" folder inside your System Folder. To do this, open the Fonts folder and drag any of the font files listed above to the "Trash", then empty the "Trash". You may need to close all applications before the system will allow emptying the trash. Discarding the fonts before installing the new copies should ensure that you end up using the new versions.

2. Click and drag the font files to the icon of the System Folder (NOT into an open window of the System Folder), and the system will automatically place the font files in the folder "Fonts" within the System folder. (If you have the "Fonts" folder open from step #1, you could drag the font files directly into the Fonts folder instead of to the icon of the System folder.) If installing the PostScript font file, be sure to also install the bitmap font file. If installing the TrueType font file don't include the other two files.
