Manufacturer DescriptionAdobe? Presenter 9 software makes it easy to create professional-quality videos by capturing both yourself and your screen with a few clicks. Turn passive content into video presentations, product demonstrations, training videos, and more on your own, right at your desktop. Edit your videos with a simple four-button interface. Get feedback by including quizzes and surveys. Publish to video portals, desktops, and mobile devices, and track performance using integration with LMSs. . SummaryPresenter is not a Video Management system but integration in PowerPoint that creates slide by slide lecture recordings, video recordings and voice-overs. It’s included here for its AV and teaching qualities but would need to be used in conjunction with a Media Management system. It is already being used by MVM, particularly for Distance learning PG courses such as Global Heath and Clinical Education. The anecdotal feedback is that the system is extremely easy to use for academics as it works from within PowerPoint. This ease of use could promote a high level of uptake. The PowerPoint plugin includes the ability to create Quizzes, Q&As and have analytics on lectures content feeding back to the lecturer through integration with the LMS.Presenter includes a Video recorder to allow recordings directly from the desktop (PC MAC)However slide by slide recordings cannot be exported straight to video. They are in a Web Based format.MVM have Adobe Connect which is the main hosting service for Presenter however Presenter files will integrate with the main University LMS allowing individual analytics for each individual student.Slide by slide Adobe Presenter recordings output to flash. This can be an issue for some mobile devices so Adobe have created apps for Android and iOSAdobe Presenter does include a Video recorder to capture live lecture/events which CAN then be exported into video files (and so would work with a VMS Service)3. It contains interviews with several customers about how they utilise Helix within their intuition: As mentioned we are holding the next user group at London Met University on Friday, 29th November. This would be a good opportunity to speak with other Helix users first hand and also preview the new Blackboard integration which uses LTI. Registration for the event is here: to confirm, the University's Helix license is indeed the legacy Real License Programme. This entitles you to install and operate as many Helix Universal Servers as you wish: If I can provide any further information feel free to come back to me. Manufacturer's DescriptionKaltura provides the first and only open source video platform for education, a full-featured framework that enables educational institutions to handle all of their rich-media needs. The platform is in use by tens of thousands of global publishers including leading universities. Kaltura is pioneering the ‘open video’ revolution through initiatives like , and the introduction of collaborative video-making into Wikipedia. Site - Brochure for education - Brochure for Joining the Apps Market - 2. SummaryKaltura is open sourced so uniquely among the VMS candidates offers a Kaltura 'Exchange' where developers (such as UoE) can build and sell apps. “Kaltura’s video platform is based on a modular platform that is built with Kaltura Widgets, which are building blocks that are completely customizable to the advertiser’s needs. These widgets can be customized in all kinds of different ways, including skinning and combining different workflows, generating new video based apps. All the ways that Kaltura Widgets can be customized are listed below.” ()As an open source platform there is less chance of 'lock-in'The video platform has a broad range and advertise themselves as a service for 'across campus' from a campus You Tube style site to PowerPoint synchronised lecture capture and live webcasting. The system will output in either Flash or HTML5 so will stream to all devices. The system can be hosted on premises or in the cloudRecording can be done from Desktop and Apple products. It will integrate with our LMS.Queensland University use it in conjunction with Echo360 which has more features around lectures. They market the software's Marketing, Alumni and Admissions qualities. The system has video analyticsThere is a very large knowledgebase due to Kaltura also being offer in a Community Edition which is free of charge (with the development talent we have this may be a viable option)There are anecdotal comments online stating that Kaltura would be best for institutions with good access to Dev Teams ()The customer service is reported as slow on many forums. But they do offer a free Community Version so monitoring the service for a paid platform and getting tight SLAs would be a priority. The service can be used as an all media repository when used with the Kaltura Media Space package.3. Happy to fill you in on our transition away from Podcast Producer. I'll follow up with a longer email on the details. Short version is that we have rolled out OpenCast Matterhorn here. On the front-end, that meant a switch from Mac Mini capture agents to some generic small form factor Dell boxes running Matterhorn reference agent on Linux. Like many Mattherhorn schools, we're able to manage them remotely (with Ansibel in our case). On the back-end, we run the Mattherhorn processing stack on Linux virtual machines. Currently, our distribution is all to YouTube and iTunes: January of 2014, we'll be adding the Matterhorn distribution server (called Engage) with streaming to our local population.?Again, happy to provide more details. I'll have the team pull together some material for you. We can also tell you more about the Matterhorn Adopters group we run monthly -- a good source for information.Best regards,OwenMediasite (Sonic Foundry)1. Alternatively you can host on your own infrastructure and we can install our software in house. Content can be made available for a group of users to edit via a portal called MyMediasite and all content can be password protected. From a costing perspective we would probably need a little more information such as potential volumes of content GB etc. and the number of likely concurrent viewers as the infrastructure would need to support your users efficiently. Manufacturer's DescriptionMost organizations don’t have a single outlet for videos, and with Miro Community that’s fine - you get the benefits of exposure on YouTube, iTunes U, and wherever else you publish, without needing to re-host centrally.Miro Community gives you leverage: it’s a simple way to manage 10,000+ videos, no matter where they are hosted. Manufacturer's DescriptionPanopto was founded at Carnegie Mellon University, one of the world’s leading research institutions, on the idea that video could enhance the learning process for students, faculty, and administration. We built our video platform so that administrators could easily record and manage lectures being delivered in classrooms across campus. We built for faculty wanting to flip their classrooms by recording lessons on their iPhones, iPads, Macbooks, and PCs from home or in the office. And we built for students – those who can study on campus, and those who cannot – all of whom expect the ability to watch their lectures on demand on any device, and participate in the learning process by recording their own assignments.Website - - . SummaryThe adaptive streaming, ability to stream in HTML5 for mobile devices and the ability to record multi screen lectures from any Windows or Mac device are good points. At the moment they only support Apple products with Apps for recording. No Android, BB or Windows Phone. However the media library will also hold standard media files that have been recorded outside of the Panopto’s desktop or iPhone clients which means it can be used as a broad video repository. There are very good event casting/live casting options in the system. We'd have the choice to go for hosted or on premises is a positive. Their lecture recording features are good (including multiple screens) and there is the ability for Educators to record feedback to individual students highlighting areas in their submitted assignments. This could be particularly good for distance learning student experience as its one to one contact between educator and student.Recordings can also be supplemented with synchronised PowerPoint slides and PDFsThe system has search and sharing functionality. The sharing is done by email where links are sent to your target audience. The students will have their own secure recording space (in the style of a dropbox)The system will link into our LMSThere are no specific mentions of DRM technologyThe system has social features including ratings, bookmarks and comments.Example of a course cast.
